Liverpool South Parkway Station-A Complete Cock Up

Yes someone has to say it especially as they are spinning it that this is, or has, "World Class Connections".
Well the reality is they spent £30,000,000 of our money rebuilding this station and rebranding it.....................but the London trains cant stop there because the platform is not long enough.
So you get off at John Lennon Airport you get a bus to Lime Street Station and get on a London train and then steer right past the station that claims to have world class connections. The planners can only be described as world class idiots for even attempting to kid you that it is a success. All that is missing is a Ken Dodd statue like the one that was unveiled at Lime Street Station and Neil Scales could have wasted another couple of hundred grand.
 http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/07/liverpool-european-capital-ofbad.html
The local press kept all this quiet in 2008 so as not to show how innefectivly the billion pounds of European Objective One funding was being distributed by the North "Vested Interest" Development Agency.
So now Joe "Come and inspect the books" Anderson has opened a Embassy in London so he can promote business for Frank McKenna's mates at Downtown Liverpool.  http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/06/frank-mckenna-suckles-at-breast-of-joe.html
Anderson just sounds like a whinging scouser blstering away. http://condensedthoughts.blogspot.com/2011/02/joe-andersons-bluster-bombast.html

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-12245480 BBC News article about the Embassy.

They wont be promoting this, err, apparent oversight to those business men who come here by plane from London and waste hours sitting on a bus going through the council estate in Speke sitting next to a scally in a trackie with a Pit Bull Terrier.
And then when they get to Lime Street watching as the train goes right past where they started.

Littlewoods Edge Lane-Rotting Away, This Building Needs Help.

Private Eye's 'Piloti' again takes an interest in the forlorn hope that is The Littlewoods Building Edge Lane.
SAVE Britain's Heritage chip in with what they are good at saying
"Government Agencies need to show Liverpools Commercial Heritage its proper respect and we call on Eric Pickles to insist his HCA civil servants guarantee this majestic buildings future".

While Joe Anderson and his press office The Liverpeel Daily Post & Echo are telling everyone how wonderful it will be to lose the WHS by building over the Central Docks they have forgotten there is a need to quantify what we are allowing to rot in this city. Why not create jobs in Edge Lane.

The press did take an interest in this building when Wayne saved it from demolition by getting assurances from the then Council leader and committee member of the NWDA Mike Storey.
The NWDA then bought it.
Wayne made an application to have it listed and Marcus Binney of SAVE added his weight to the need to list it. The c20society also supported this application.
But there it is rotting.
It should have been the new Museum of Liverpool and that would have regenerated the area but it was too important an issue to Mike Storey that he was hellbent on destroying the unique character of Liverpool's World Heritage Site that he ignored Wayne plea.

http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.co.uk/2010/07/there-was-scheme-to-relocate-school-in.html
There was talk of making it into a school.

White Star Building Hit By Storms-James Street Closed.

They spent a fortune on the "Three Black Coffins" at Mann Island while The White Star Building on the corner of James Street and the Strand lies rotting waiting for it to fall down so the site can be developed. Today it has happened with parts of the building falling off.
Built by Norman Shaw to a similar design of Scotland Yard with bands of brick and white Portland stone it is historic if not only for being the place that all families gathered when the Titanic sank, being the company headquarters.
We warned of this years ago.
Call This Regeneration, or maybe a tale of two cities.

It seems there is money to trash the world heritage site, but none to maintain our historic buildings.

Liverpools Regeneration Game- Littlewoods Edge Lane.

I made an application this list this Art Deco Building nearly a decade ago, I did my best to draw attentionm to its merits. It was saved from demolition.
 It now lies rotting.
Dis-Owned by the North "Vested Interest" Development Agency its gone no-where, and now is letting water in.
Mike Storey who was on the NWDA and the Liverpool Land Company at the time has a lot to answer for here.
Despite English Heritage Inspector Hawkins stating the area should be considered a conservation area, he hid it under the table, there was no effort whatsoever to uphold the English Heretic decision. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/03/pathfinders-edge-lane-road-to-nowhere.html
Repossess It Quickly I say despite the Local papers waking up now the NWDA want to repo it, its too late. Get it sold to someone who wants it before it falls down.
http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2011/03/11/government-land-grab-to-sell-off-liverpool-sites-and-keep-the-cash-92534-28316852/ The local papers champions of Liverpool....eh!

http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/views/liverpool-daily-post/2011/03/04/what-became-of-public-s-right-to-know-92534-28277153/ Right on...eh!
For ten years there has been no effort to restore it.
Urban Splash who were the development darlings, now the bankrupted clowns, after they and the English Heretics ruined Parkhill, (which was awful anyway) proposed a scheme for the building.

http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/05/dr-simon-thurley-and-restoration-of.html
Its painfull watching the Heretics at work, especially Basil Thurley the then CE.

http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2007/10/24/developers-save-littlewoods-building-64375-19998780/

They tried to placate public opinion with the scheme with a dumb scheme for a school. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/06/littlewoods-edge-lane.html
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/07/there-was-scheme-to-relocate-school-in.html
All this while Joe Anderson does all he can to help his property development friends of Edge Lane. http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2011/03/10/edge-lane-retail-park-revamp-will-not-face-public-inquiry-92534-28310965/
It seems we have replaced Mike Storey with another....Mike Storey.

I also made an application to list Turning the Place Over by Richard Wilson http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/04/turning-place-over-by-richard-wilson.html

I didn't see the local press taking that much of an interest then. Better late than never.

Government Office North West- How Can We Trust Them.

How can you trust the Government Office North West when it has been run by the North Vested Interest Development Agency.
Their senior person Robert Hough was a business partner of John Whittaker the tax exiled owner of Peel Holdings. Considering Liverpool's local office was in Cunard Buildings overlooking the world heritage disaster that is Liverpool Pier Head, it is obvious they don't care for Liverpool's historic fabric. We wrote to the Secretary of State, who in turn gives it to GONW. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/11/liverpool-waters-public-inquiry-is.html

I consider them corrupted by the power they possess.

http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/10/world-heritage-steering-group-what.html

http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/09/peel-holdings-arrogant-bastards.html

So Peel have put all their tentacles out laying down their chosen men.
How much will Liverpool Waters be worth when planning permission is passed.

Instead of branding Liverpool Docks, the new Shanghai, the model should be Amsterdam, where people live harmoniously in tightly built quarters, all built on a human level with green space and canals as location.
It would be good to make Liverpool Waters the New Amsterdam.

Peel are to build a new port in Salford, costing 400 million pounds and turn Liverpool's into a plastic palace of glass shoe-boxes stacked on top of each other.

We need a public inquiry nothing else will do.

RIBA To Send Its Drawings Collection to Liverpool.

More pathetic LIVERPOOL Daily Post reporting. This time from the council lap-dog Mark Wadding"Padding"ton.
The spoon feeding of the public is culpable. This time its more uneducated garbage from a local paper trying, but failing miserably to understand the scope of the disaster they have lauded on behalf of the council and the North "Vested Interest" Development Agency. Burying their heads in the sand.
Unable to see or comprehend World Heritage Disaster that is partly their fault for spinning everything.

The article may be well meaning, but is so full of "ifs and maybes" it should never have been allowed to go to print.
We have heard all this garbage before, they even roll out the Merseyside Civic Society calling it the historic Merseyside Civic Society. God 'elp us.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/09/whatever-happened-to-merseyside-civic.html
I call them heritage collaborators, responsible for turning a blind eye on purpose.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/04/merseyside-civic-society-heritage.html
It is said the RIBA collection "could" be placed in a new premises located on the waterfront, close to the Albert Dock. The Daily Ghost shows a 15 year old picture of the Albert Dock before it was turned into World Heritage S*ite.
  http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/08/liverpool-wins-carbuncle-cup.html

http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/06/mann-island-damage-has-been-well-and.html

Read the previous RIBA have a rep who is no more than a vandal disfiguring the WHS, and being allowed to.
http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2010/11/08/royal-institute-for-british-architects-may-have-northern-headquarters-in-liverpool-say-council-92534-27618566/
Jonothan  Brown comments, he will try hard, but it may be that he likes the sound of his own name in the papers and is the only one who is running around as part of an aimless, and bleedin' hopeless, bunch of heritage no-marks who have stood by and watched while the waterfront has been decimated by bad design. Now they want to bring a load of architects here to see the damage. http://www.sevenstreets.com/city-living/feature-city-living/total-eclipse-of-the-heart-mann-island/
Now forgive me for being cynical, but could it be "proposed" for one of the Black Coffins on Mann Island as the Open Eye Gallery look as if they wont be joining the world heritage disaster party.
Has Matt Brooks been trying to pull a few strings.
http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/ldpbusiness/business-local/2009/07/02/architect-s-riba-role-to-promote-design-excellence-92534-24053919/

It was said Mr Brook, who opened Broadway Malyan’s Liverpool office in 2007, will serve as a North West representative on the Royal Institute of British Architects’ National Council.

It even takes the Daily Ghost opinion. The very same opinion that said Alsops Glass Pie in the sky was to be brilliant for Liverpool.
The well meaning idiot who wrote the Comment and Analysis in the Daily Ghost says Every effort must be made to convince RIBA that Liverpool is not only a spiritual home for architectural excellence, but a practical, vibrant and cost effective base. After all Liverpool's historic waterfront can offer what every desirable building requires-location, location, location.
AND THEN LOOK AT THE PICTURE OF WHAT THEY HAVE DONE.
And a bunch of brainless numb skulls who report on any bit of council rubbish, with a positive spin, who are oblivious to architecture, and have allowed the waterfront to be carbuncled while Blind Bill Gleeson tells us all how good it all is.
With Mark Thomas, the Daily Ghost editors favourite building the 2009 Carbuncle cup winning Terminal Ferry Building, it really is the blind leading the dumb and blind.

The reality is we are yet to be a laughing stock for the mess created on Liverpool's Waterfront and The local press just put a blind face on it all.
If we all turn a blind eye maybe the architectural profession wont notice Mark.

David "Fuzzy Felt" Fleming-He Should Be Sacked.

NML Can't Pay-Won't Pay.
How many cock-ups does one have to make to get sacked in the public sector. Grand mis-management of a public contract for a new museum in the world heritage site, that started off with a costing of £28,000,000 that ends up costing £78,000,000, and it hasnt finished yet.
Nearly a million pounds paid out for a covenant that they knew about, and now as reported last Friday on these pages, an extra £500,000 to the new architects...not 3XN who were sacked by Fuzzy, who then appointed AEN as architects. This dispute has now cost a further £32,000 in costs,  http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/07/museum-of-liverpool-cock-up-work-stops.html
Today Ben Schofield reports http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2010/07/14/national-museums-liverpool-forced-to-pay-500-000-to-architects-after-row-over-unpaid-fees-92534-26848660/ On the damning state of affairs at Liverpool Museums who destroyed Manchester Dock, our culture, to build this new museum. Fleming needs sacking.

This is a comment left on the above
Katie54 wrote:

So we have a very high profile project, designed by renowned architects who won an international competition against very stiff opposition.... then NML wanted to fiddle around with the design (cladding, etc.) and sacked the original architects, appointing the firm that was assisting with navigating UK building regs. etc.... who implemented all the many changes decided by NML.... who then refused to pay for them, although they appear to have unilaterally paid out 750,000 instead of 70,000 odd because they forgot to check the covenants on a World Heritage site!! This is not only an astounding example of arrogance and pride, but all the faffing around appears to have cost a minimum of 1,250,000. Who exactly can call Dr. Fleming to account for his astonishing hubris?

I does not stop there, the floor now needs to come up I am reliably informed.
The reality is they have spent all the budget.

Littlewoods Edge Lane-The Decay Really Sets In Hard.

There was a scheme to relocate a school in the Littlewoods building in Edge Lane. This is now off. This Art Deco building should have been the site for the new museum of Liverpool, instead of ruining the world heritage site. English Heritage said the area should have been made a conservation area but with Mike Storey as Liverpool Land company top dog it was always going to be spivved to a cosy developer such as Urban Splash. They have now abandoned the idea. It was and still may be owned by the North Vested Interest Development Agency which means that we are watching it decay week by week. When will it fall down.

Now the proposed relocation of a school inside is off with the announcement of huge budget cuts.
Major projects scrapped include the moving of two Church of England secondaries, Sefton Park’s St Hilda’s and city-centre based Archbishop Blanch into the iconic Littlewoods building within Edge Lane’s Innovation Park. http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2010/07/06/black-day-for-liverpool-education-as-tories-and-lib-dems-scrap-350m-school-rebuilding-programme-92534-26792438/ The Daily Ghost reports. Incidently theschools involved said they did not want to move.
Previously they had heraded the idea as wonderful claiming the building had been saved.

We did not quite agree.

Two Faced Liverpool Museums-Will Alsop Declares.

And Mike Storey has Twelve. The disgraced ex council leader has a face for everyone...when it suits him, or his mentors Trevor and Doreen Jones who passed all the plans for the three black coffins at Mann Island.
Moving on from my questions to Will Alsop. It is clear the Development Cabal have taken another hit here. Showing up the "cosy" relationship between the North Vested Interest Development Agency and Neptune Developments.
But we must not forget that Storey was on the NWDA committee, he was also the Council leader. He was also on the board of Liverpool Vision and was a trustee of Liverpool museums.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/06/wayne-colquhoun-asks-will-alsop.html

Today David Bartlett take the time to tell the news where it is.
http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news//tm_headline=architect-will-alsop-criticises-liverpool-s-8216-mediocre-8217-waterfront-buildings%26method=full%26objectid=26753889%26siteid=100252-name_page.html

THE ARCHITECT behind the failed Fourth Grace scheme has launched a withering attack on the buildings that are being built in its place on Liverpool’s waterfront.

Will Alsop, whose company designed the Cloud, said the buildings the city has “ended up with ... lie in the general malaise of architectural mediocrity that we find so popular with the current architectural press”.
He added: “In the end, this is all history but I do believe that Liverpool deserves much better than it got, whether it was my building or not.”
Three glazed black blocks in the Mann Island development and the new Museum of Liverpool are currently nearing completion at the city’s Pier Head where the Cloud would have been built.
Mr Alsop also hit out at the National Museums Liverpool (NML) for the organisation’s role in the collapse of the Fourth Grace, saying it had its own agenda.
He also claimed the North West Development Agency (NWDA) had pulled the plug on the project to meet a shortfall in funds for the ECHO Arena and BT Convention Centre.
The architect also claimed the city council had used its planning department as a “stalling device.”
His comments, during an online architectural webchat, have resurrected the row that erupted after his Cloud building was sensationally scrapped in July 2004.
The decision to abandon the project was made after it emerged that projected costs had risen by almost £100m.
Last night the council, the NWDA, and Neptune Developments who are building the three blocks rejected Mr Alsop’s claims. NML declined to comment.
Steven Broomhead, NWDA chief executive, said it was untrue that the scheme had been stopped because of a funding shortfall on the arena and convention project.
He said: “The public sector partners involved in the Fourth Grace – Liverpool City Council, Liverpool Vision, National Museums Liverpool and the NWDA – jointly concluded that the project had become unviable due to increasing costs and fundamental changes from the original scheme.
“The estimated cost had risen from £228m to £324m and there was a massive increase in the residential element of the project, which focused on ‘form’ not sustainable functions.
“All this was likely to have resulted in the scheme being called in, causing lengthy delays in making progress on the site.”
He said the partners had been determined to deliver a “world-class” scheme, adding: “The new Museum of Liverpool, extension to the canal link and complementary mixed-use development will deliver a major iconic visitor destination, as well as delivering significant economic benefits to Liverpool, Merseyside and the entire region.”

Steve Parry, chief executive of Neptune Developments, said Mann Island is a development of “exceptional quality” and had won many plaudits from the Commission for the Built Environment (CABE), English Heritage, and commentators like Stephen Bayley.
He said: “The appeal of the development to investment institutions, and commercial and residential occupiers is undoubtedly connected to the originality of a design.
“Will Alsop is renowned for his colourful and highly individual opinions.
“I think Will should actually come up and see the buildings before judging them.
“As he knows only too well, two dimensional images rarely do justice to visionary architecture.”
A council spokesman said its planning department had raised legitimate concerns regarding the Cloud’s design.
He said: “This was not a stalling device nor was it the reason the project did not happen.
“That was because Å the estimated cost of the scheme spiralled to nearly £100m more than the original figure and that the scheme’s character changed fundamentally from what was originally envisaged.
“This included a proposed massive increase in the residential element of the scheme – doubling the original number of apartments to 700, and 200 apartments in the Canning Dock.”

The Cabal defend English Heritage...well http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/05/sir-neil-cossons.html who was also a trustee of Liverpool Museums. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/04/who-polices-heritage-police.html
And CABE http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/06/cabe-who-funds-them.html

Bryan Gray the Chairman of the NWDA was also a trustee of NML.

They are All Shysters together as far as I am concerned, they who destroyed Manchester Docks http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/03/manchester-docks-obliterated.html and who is Stephen Bayley anyhow to comment on a city he left decades ago.

Wayne Colquhoun Asks Will Alsop Questions About The Ill Fated Fourth Grace.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to ask Will Alsop some direct questions a few years after he was unceremoniously dumped from the Fourth Grace(sic) Scheme that he had put so much into, in fact he may have even staked his company on the schemes go-ahead. I did not wish to wind him up or get him annoyed but it seems, from his reply that the whole World Heritage Blight fiasco is still an open wound with him.

It was an open question and answer session organised by Building Design Magazine. http://www.bdonline.co.uk/  This if we remember is the influential architectural publication that awarded Liverpools Terminal Ferry Building the 2009 Carbuncle Cup award.

http://www.bdonline.co.uk/story.aspx?storyCode=5001534

Wayne Colquhoun :
Your past comments about Liverpool when you were promoting the idea for a Fourth Grace said “Liverpool aint easy” could you elaborate
Monday June 28, 2010 3:37

William Alsop: I never floated ideas for the Fourth Grace, it was a competition which was limited to four architects of which I was one. I made a detailed presentation and was fortunate enough to win on the basis that the North West development agency would have to put in £70million of public money otherwise they should choose one of my competitors. They agreed to do this and subsequently ringfenced the £70million. I then continued on detailed work until the project was cancelled because they had to raid the £70million to meet a shortfall of funds on the King's Dock project. In my opinion Liverpool had used their planning department as a stalling device.

Monday June 28, 2010 3:41

Wayne Colquhoun : ] Indeed I think you were taken advantage of by the Liverpool city council in order to put the idea to develop the World Heritage Site, which should not have been touched. I did not like your scheme but the public in general are agreed that they would have prefered your Cloud.

Monday June 28, 2010 3:48

William Alsop: I agree up to a point. I think the site required a building, which was as brave as the three existing graces. I was in Liverpool a lot at the time in question where I got nothing other than support from the good people of Liverpool. I feel that the Liverpool museums who were stakeholders in the project always had their own agenda and were not helpful. Indeed, you could say perhaps even two faced. In the end, this is all history but I do believe that Liverpool deserves much better than it got whether it was my building or not. What they have ended up with lies in the general malaise of architectural mediocrity that we find so popular with the current architectural press. I am sorry you didn't like my proposal but in spite of this, I am sure you are a very nice man.

Monday June 28, 2010 3:53

Wayne Colquhoun : ] Thanks for your honesty.

Monday June 28, 2010 3:59

This is of course a brief exchange but it tells such a lot. He calls Liverpool Museums two faced. I think myself, they are five faced.
I could have told him that and with Mike Storey as council leader, later to resign in disgrace, and on the NWDA committee and a trustee of Liverpool Museums at the time anything else could have hardly have been expected.
I am understating when I say I didn’t like the idea, I hated it. It was from Cloud Cuckoo-land, but I know he was used by the Council Spivs to develop the idea to develop a world heritage site. Very Cosy the way Neptune Developments stayed there though.

I think the cloud was cuckoo land and would have been a Disgrace never mind a Fourth Grace(sic). But what we have ended up with, The Fifth Grace, by his help and throwing his weight behind the Fourth, is World Heritage Vandalism.

This is a building he designed called The Public, In West Bromich, that closed before it had opened.
It has an uncanny resemblence to The Black Coffins at Mann Island that he proclaims are "A malaise of architectural mediocrity".

Littlewoods Building Edge Lane-The Decay Continues. Why?

Cllr Joe Anderson is making a trip to the Isle of Man to see reclusive businessman Albert Gubay, who owns Edge Lane Retail Park. Earlier this year, relations between the Fib-Dem council and the company started to thaw and Cllr Anderson said he was keen to meet Mr Gubay to make sure the scheme stayed on track. He said: “I have asked for a meeting with Mr Gubay and I am going to see him with the council’s executive director for regeneration, John Kelly.

“We are meeting him and his representatives to discuss the future of Edge Lane Retail Park because it is a vital part in the jigsaw in terms of the regeneration of Liverpool.
“I have called for a halt to the legal action between the council and his company, and they have agreed to reciprocate and withdraw their legal action against the council. This is a man and a company which wants to invest in Liverpool to create jobs and help us regenerate our city. We have to find a solution to areas of disagreement and that is what I intend to do. I am optimistic we can reach an agreement.”
Derwent wants to build a retail park with around 600,000 sq ft shopping space, half the size it originally hoped for.He said it was “ludicrous” for both sides to attempt to sue each other.

Mr Taylor added: “We never wanted to end up in court with the city council and cancelling the legal action is a pragmatic, common-sense approach. We have a saying in the office, ‘let’s crack on and get it done’, and we get that feeling from the city council now. We look forward to working with the council and Cllr Anderson to make this scheme happen.”
The current retail park is around 430,000 sq ft, meaning the new shops will total 170,000 sq ft more than the current site.Derwent is also offering a number of “sweeteners” for their part of the deal.
The concessions include an extension to Mersey Care’s Rathbone Hospital; a larger “Victorian” style park to replace Wavertree’s Rathbone Park; and a “grotspot-free” zone.
Meanwhile the Littlewoods Building lies empty crumbling.
Joe Anderson has appointed a cabinet member for regeneration and development. But what about the historic side of Liverpools fabric. I sincerely hope Joe is not going to be another property developers spiv like the last few council leaders.
The trouble here goes back some time and for some reason the council were hostile to Gubay.
Too late for Elizebeth Pasco though forcably ejected from her house by Labour Pathfider policies. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/03/pathfinders-edge-lane-road-to-nowhere.html
Bernie Turner, Liverpools Mastermind, http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/11/berni-turner-liverpools-so-called.html who in my opinion is a heritage fraud watching as buildings fall down, while masquerading as a English Heretic Environment champion http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/08/lets-take-sentimental-journey-with.html She said the Judge needed a good slapping who ruled against the council in a Council-v-Gubay spat.
So the Littlewooods Building decays while they plan to throw another load of B&Q sheds up, and no-one seems to care. English Heritage Inspecter Hawkins said this should be made a Conservation area, but Mike Storey as the then Council leader and NWDA committee member, and Liverpool Land Company executive member had other ideas. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/06/littlewoods-edge-lane.html
Instead the North Vested Interest Development Agency bought it and proposed to kock it out to Urban Splash after a secret competition where they just announced the winner won the deal to develop it.  A bit like the secret competition for new museum on the Pier Head. This building on Edge Lane should have been the new museum, right next to the historic Edge Lane Railway Station. That would have given the area a chance instead of destroying the World Heritage Site.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/08/urban-splashare-they-drowning-in-debt.html
And Urban Splash have done nothing.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/06/littlewoods-edge-lane.html

Come on Joe get some action going on the Littlewoods Building before the decay goes too far.

Museum of Liverpools, Opening Cancalled......Again!!!!!!!!

The so called "Museum of Liverpool" will not open in 2010. £80.000.000 of public money spent on the Carbuncle and they cant even get the thing opened on time. They promised it open for 2007, then 2008 then 2009 and then 2010 and now, well how long is David Fleming the curators nose, he just makes it up as he goes along while draining public funds from the NWDA and the likes. Last week the publicity machine opened the anouncement that they were having a exhibition at the world museum  http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2010/02/13/latest-world-museum-liverpool-exhibition-explores-the-world-of-plants-100252-25825606/ about plants.
Talking of plants this time its intrepid reporter Catherine Jone who covers the bad publicity over and turns it into a good news story failing to inform the public that it will not be open, instead glossing over the facts. Are the people working at Trinity "Smoking" Mirrors really that stupid or are they in league with some form of a cover up of facts...you decide. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news//tm_headline=museum-of-liverpool-opens-window-on-city-s-past%26method=full%26objectid=25834322%26siteid=100252-name_page.html
Any how Catherine, again as a reporter of the Oldham Echo "Stop the Rot Campaign" that never stopped anything you need to stop the rot in yout computer and start telling the truth and stop being a museum stooge. Did you become a reporter to distort the facts?

I have used a picture of the New Rome MAXXI museum opened in 2009.....does it make any difference they both look the same.

Neptune Developments Caught Employing Illegal Immigrants on Mann Island

David Bartlett writes in the Echo
A TEAM of illegal workers are to be removed from the country after being caught in a raid on Liverpool’s waterfront.

The UK Border Agency (UKBA) caught seven Indian nationals working illegally at the Countryside Neptune development on Mann Island, the ECHO can reveal.
http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2010/02/08/illegal-workers-seized-at-liverpool-s-mann-island-100252-25784173/

He goes on;
A spokesman for UKBA said: “There was an intelligence-led operation in Liverpool at Mann Island Project Construction Site in Liverpool city centre.

“Seven Indian nationals who were working illegally were found, and appropriate action has been taken.
“We won’t tolerate illegal working in our communities, and we’re working hard to clamp down on this issue to reduce the attractiveness of the UK to illegal immigrants.
“Anyone who takes on a foreign national without permission to work in the UK is breaking the law, undermining law abiding businesses and faces a big fine.
“There are strict rules about which foreign nationals can get a job in the UK and businesses have a clear responsibility to carry out the right checks.”
A spokesman for Neptune Developments said;
It was working with Bam to make sure there was no repeat of the incident.

“We are disappointed and concerned by what has happened, particularly given our strong commitment to delivering local employment and maintaining stringent health and safety standards.

This job is funded by taxpayers money through the North Vested Interest Development Agency (NWDA)and sponsered by Merseytravel.
Local company using illegal labour hang your head in shame Steve Parry of Neptune Development aren;t you making enough money.

This follows on from our breaking news story two weeks ago........better late than never.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/01/border-agency-raid-at-mann-island-five.html

Further more the NWDA are giving them more money. This time to ruin New Brighton with a Morrissons supermarket on the seafront. How many millions of the public purse can one greedy company employing illegals get?.

MANN ISLAND-You Know You've Arrived.

Yes you know you have arrived alright........The World Heritage Site is destroyed, so a handful of "Cosy" Developers can make a packet. While the idiots at Unesco waffle about Overall Universal Value and other technical stuff the very thing that gave us who we were, our Iconic Three Graces are obliterated. The truth of the matter is that the UK Government through the DCMS  fund Unesco to 10% of their budget. They say they are empowered by The Government Office North West which have offices at Cunard Building overlooking the Terminal Ferry Carbuncle, and this Quango in turn is run by the North "Vested Interest" Development Agency (NWDA) who gave the land worth 80 million away for 3.5 million. Yes you know you,ve arrived at Mann Island alright. You have been shafted.

Border Agency Raid at Mann Island-Five are Arrested.

In a sting operation a gang master labour scan was exposed when 5 Indian workers were arrested. The Home Office had received a tip off and staked out the site catching them as they left work for the evening. After several tragic events in the area, you have to question what is the situation if there was a death on site either with a foreign worker or another close-by. This site has been marred in controversy and since it’s inception and the North “Vested Interest” Development Agency (NWDAwho use the money received to fund the new museum) http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/07/mann-island-funds-new-museum-its-fact.html  became involved giving the land to Neptune Developments for 3.5 million pounds when a value of 15 million was quoted, which should have been more like 80 million in my opinion. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/01/north-west-development-agency-shysters.html  It was then allegedly knocked out to Dylan Harvey, a property broker, http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/08/mann-island-dylan-harvey-director_18.html  who has caused severe hardship for numerous deposit holders of land they were to develop in Manchester. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/08/dylan-harvey-goes-bango.html

http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/07/dylan-harvey-developers-behind-mann.html  Such was the land given away so cheaply and Neptune became the builders, and all this instigated by the NWDA with our taxpayers money
Even with the huge profits to be made they still employ scab labour to do the job on the cheap possibly gang-mastered in from India. It looks like a similar thing that happens in Dubai with Asian workers being the predominant labour. These workers were working illegally while taking Liverpudlians jobs away from them at a time of recession. This scheme is sponsored by the Liverpool City Council and Warren Bradley backs it all the way. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/07/warren-bradley-you-are-not-very-clever.html  Not only are they ruining the World Heritage Site they are doing it illegally. I was informed that Liverpool One was raided on numerous occasions and the Echo Arena……..not a mention in the Oldham Echo or the Daily Ghost, Trinity “Smoking” Mirrors. The Mann Island site is just over a hundred yards from the Border Agency offices within the Home Office. The third and final building has been given a further 3 million pounds of public funding by the NWDA so that Merseytravel can relocate there while across the road the historic White Star Line Building rots. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/06/mann-island-tale-of-two-cities.html  Will the local press print this?

A Travelodge for Liverpools World Heritage Site. Only in Liverpool Could This Happen.

Another Landmark building coming soon, the hoarding, which must have cost a fortune, proclaims. Another ad-sign on the other side of the old Coopers bar which closed a couple of years ago despite protests from the lessees to keep it open (Sunday was a particulary busy afternoon with Cy Tucker a old favorite, in some quarters, did his gig there) advertises the grand job they are all doing for us. This site was another CPO job by the North Vested Interest Development Authority. (NWDA). http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/01/north-west-development-agency-shysters.html Directly opposite the Mann Island Development where the "Vested Interest" Development Quango gave away a plot of land worth 15 million for 3.25 million pounds. This can only be described as a conservative estimate by the shysters involved in the deal. I find it hard to believe that a site claimed to be worth a finished site value of 300 million pounds could be lied about in such a way as to devalue its worth to suit a few. Correspondent does another exellent article about the landmark building coming soon............a Travelodge...yes a Travelodge, has anyone seen the quality, or lack of quality, of the Travelodge chain.  http://condensedthoughts.blogspot.com/2010/01/hotel-reservations.html Correspondent calls it Hotel Reservations and usually critical to the Oldham Hall Street Brigade he picks up on the fact that even they are against this one. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/views/our-view/2010/01/20/liverpool-s-world-famous-waterfront-needs-better-than-another-budget-hotel-100252-25637804/ Even those dimwits at the Oldham Echo and the blind people at the Daily Ghost can see through this one. I noticed a lampost notice last Tuesday which states they are giving a small triangle of our land, pavement, to the developers. All objections have to be in by the 21 January, which was two days away after it was posted. What chance have you. This really is a city run by spivs who give away our land to their mates who have snuggled up to them. It is bad enough having a tacky travelodge in such a location but giving the pavement away is one step too far, or one too less as the case may be.
The Planning App and its Chris (The Riddler) Ridland dealing with another dodgy application, again, with The Reichmarshal Lee's our planning nightmares, thumbprints all over it.
The Application is 10F/0029 The planning departments number is 0151 233 3021.
The spivs have told Unesco everything is alright, it is far from it. www.liverpool.gov.uk/Environment/Planning is the portal they claim you can find all the details at.............bet it does not say they have spivved the pavement away in front of our noses with no objections because no-one knew anything about it. We could write to Colin Cover Up the Liverpool Chief Executive but as part of the Executive Board, he has already passed this I am sure and now its a case of banging it through.
Through all those dark years of depressing times all I needed sometimes was to see our majestic world heritage site to believe in myself, to think that it could be done here in Liverpool we have got a start above other towns. When Sir Neil Cossons http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/05/sir-neil-cossons.html the then Chairman of English Heretics, at the symbolic unveiling of the WHS inscription. "This is some achievement, now we have to build on what we have at the World Heritage Site" surely he did not mean it.

North West Development Agency-Shysters-R-Us

A LAND deal that saw a publicly-owned site sold for a quarter of its real value will be investigated by independent auditors. Ben Schofield writes in todays Daily Ghost. Though he is only young and has not been around for a while, this is several years after the event, this is why we call the local papers Trinity "Smoking" Mirror Group. Why did they not investigate what we all knew. I told them about this and they chose not to print it.

He continues, The North West Development Agency asked Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) to investigate the purchase and re-sale of its Mann Island site after the Daily Post revealed it was sold for £3.5m even though its value is nearer £15m.
The waterfront site, in the shadow of the city’s historic Three Graces, is now being developed by Countryside Neptune, which bought the plot in 2007. NWDA had paid £9.25m for the site just six years before. Its audit committee voted unanimously to ask PWC to investigate the deal.
North West MEP Paul Nuttall has also asked the National Audit Office to look into the deal.
NWDA chief executive Mr Steven Broomhead said: “Given what’s been said in the public domain, I think it’s important that I reassure myself with an independent review carried out by PWC.”
An expert arbitrator valued the site at between £15m and £16m while settling a dispute between the NWDA and the land’s former owners last year.
Three blocks are being built on there – two residential and one containing offices. There will also be restaurants and shops, as well as a Winter Garden.
Neptune managing director Steve Parry defended the deal and also revealed a clause in the developers’ contact with NWDA means if the scheme earns high profits, some will be shared with the tax payer-funded quango.Mr Parry said:“A very complex brief was developed for the site to ensure buildings of the highest quality that would not jeopardise Liverpool’s newly-acquired World Heritage Status. This significantly reduced the value of the site.” http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2010/01/25/mann-island-land-deal-to-be-investigated-92534-25676075/

I wrote to Stephen Broadbent of the NWDA in 2006 and asked for more information regarding this land deal and was told in writing it was covered by commercial confidentiality. However during a Civic Society special meeting which was stitched up by Peter Brown the Chairman and Brian"Mad Hatter" Hatton Neptune said "We will make this happen because the price we paid for the land means we cant go wrong. NWDA-Shysters-R-Us. We have all paid for the WHS to be destroyed.
The PR agents for the NWDA and Neptune oh and Liverpool Vision were October Communications now Aurora PR based in Hanover Chambers, Hanover Street and the person at the Daily Ghost who I told this was the then City Editor of the Daily Ghost Larry Nield the Union rep. He now works for the PR company that would sell its grandmother for money and have sold our WHS right down the river.

NWDA to Probe its Own Land Sell-Off to Neptune Developments. Now Does That Make Sense?

This is how it was. Liverpool the Venice of the North, those magnificent views, so good we were made a world heritage site. A WHS for what our forebears left us. This had view survived by sheer miracle, that was the words of Graham Fisher the Chairman of the local Victorian Society during his elegant and passionate speech opposing the plans to develop the site by Neptune Developments at the planning committee that Lady Doreen Jones the Dame of Disaster http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/03/undeclared-interest-of-jones-vote.html  passed by a casting vote and then buggered off to where she lived just outside Chester with Clever Trevor the property developing ex Lord Mayor. Never should this have been allowed. All the power was with the NWDA who run the Government Office North West who report to the DCMS who are guilded by the English Heretics http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/05/sir-neil-cossons.html with their c****pted officials doing deals to further their careers. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/05/henry-owen-john-english-heretic.html see a couple of posts we did earlier http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/04/who-polices-heritage-police.html Peter de Figueiredo…. English Heretic is now I am informed employed by Peel Holdings. What good is all the money in the world if you sell your soul.

Now it is reported (badly) by the Daily Ghost that the whole of the land deal is to be investigated http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2010/01/19/northwest-development-agency-to-probe-liverpool-waterfront-land-sell-off-92534-25630638/ It is reported that the NWDA is to probe Liverpool Waterfront land sell off............which they did , how can this be right.  http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/search/label/NWDA and why are they continuing with the same old. They are funding Carbuncle after Carbuncle in the WHS. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/07/mann-island-funds-new-museum-its-fact.html

Who-ever called themselves, falsely, a reporter who put the Daily Ghost article together does not have a clue as the figures they quote as they do not add up niether does the article make sense. It appears to be another NWDA press release packaged as a damage limitation by the Daily Ghost. We thought they were getting a bit better this year but they just do not have the journalistic skills.

Mann Island-More Public Funds to Destroy World Heritage.

THE NWDA was told to pay a Liverpool car dealership £1m after a dispute over the sale of the Mann Island site on the city’s waterfront.

Valuation experts ruled between the agency and Robert Smith Group, which ran a Road Range car dealership selling Mercedes-Benzes and Porsches from Mann Island.
The NWDA bought the Robert Smith Group’s 4.25-acre site on the waterfront for £9.25m in 2001. This may have been before the boom years but it was still cheap.
The land was originally intended to be the home of the city’s pathetic "glass pie in the sky" The Fourth Grace, which was scrapped in 2004.
The site was then sold to Neptune Developments and Countryside, the preferred developer for the Fourth Grace, for less than it had initially paid after Neptune threatened to sue because of all the speculative work they had done....or so they said..
In 2005, the Agency agreed to deduct £1.5m from the purchase of the land, and paid another £1.4m.

Not http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/07/mann-island-funds-new-museum-its-fact.html only was the funding for the Three Black Slugs on Mann Island public it was played out right in front of our eyes. The gave the land away for nothing and now its worth hundreds of millions. There should be European laws against this use of objective one funding to build carbuncles on the WHS.
They also funded the new museum with the funds from the sale of this land to Neptune for a pittance. Neptune Directors admitted such in a Merseyside Civic Society presntation which was stitched up by the Chairman in order to smooth the plans through on Halloween. The misguided Brian "Mad Hatter" Hatton was friends of Neptune and offered support at the meeting at one time saying the Pump House should be knocked down. So now in front of them all WHS disaster unfolds.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/11/museum-of-liverpool-sad-rip-off-of.html

Steve Broomstick from the NWDA said recently "It is also a big success story for the city, with a high-quality residential and office development on site, and progressing at a time when many other projects across the UK are stalling, and the Agency is pleased to have played an important role in promoting the delivery of this important regeneration initiative.” This bloke really is a dimwit who has allowed a bunch of "cosy" developers to make a packet out of destroying world heritage with our money..public funds.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/11/whats-time-liverpool-world-heritage.html
Well so they say http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/08/dylan-harvey-goes-bango.html

Liverpools Canal Link; A Waste of Money.

THE WONKY JOURNEY. 17 million pounds of public money and it is wasted money. Our taxpayers money to split the Pier Head in two to take away the open green space. Yes I may hear you say it is unobtrusive but it is a cut through what was an open vista. This silly idea to link up fresh water with salt water was put forward by two obscure councillors and the Council and Liverpool Vision fell into the deep pool, of lack of thought and sold it to us with the help of the Oldham Echo and its sick little sister the Daily Ghost writer for the council. Funded by the NWDA along wit the new museum and the Three Black Slugs. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/07/mann-island-funds-new-museum-its-fact.html The original plans said it would have a recoverable finish that would enable open air concerts. This was dropped once the plans were passed, by guess who The "Dame of Disaster" the Cruella DeVille of Liverpools architecture Doreen Jones now living it up in Chester. Where her and Trevor http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/08/knock-me-down-with-feather-its-clever.html it is alleged live next door to the Duke of Westminster. She of the big hair still comes into Liverpool to have her barnet made larger by Herbert whose Bling building did not go to planning committee. The woman leaves us with a hole in the ground after she and Trevor teamed up with Windsor Developments(she owned Lamb and Sons that was knocked down over a weekend when a listing application was recieved. She did not care about anything but herself in my opinion and both of them were allowed to run the city and direct its planning where they thought fit. You did not stand a chance with this disgraceful woman passing what suited her and ignoring the public. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/03/superlambanana-land.html Only six barges at a time can use this link and all barges have to put up overnight while a British Waterways person comes and lets the waiting boats through in the morning at 6.45 a.m. Talk about making it difficult. It is no wonder that all the berths in front of the Albert Dock are empty. What a complete and utter waste of cash. http://www.britishwaterways.co.uk/media/documents/LCL_Skippers_Guide_A3.pdf  Just follow the wonky journey on the British Waterways skippers guide and you will realise that navigating the shopping trolleys and lovely little creatures throwing halfies at the boats as you peacefully sail past the Strand is not quite worth it.
