Amy Browne-Another Liverpool Echo Clowne. Someone Should Stop the Rot At The Liverpool Echo.

You have to despair at the Daily Joe of Oldham Hall street.
They make a good headline out of a bad headline. Now we have another newcomer to the Echo Stop The Rot self congratulating campaign, that incidentally, stopped the rot of nothing.
Look at the lead picture they have used of the Albert Dock.
Most of the plebeian population would not notice that this is an old picture that now has three black coffins and a giant skateboard ramp that pretends to be a museum obscuring the Liver Buildings.
 http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/none-liverpools-grade-1-listed-7001692
Of course the Echo said these developments were all good for Liverpool.
Liverpool is on the Unesco "In Danger" List not a mention from Amy Browne then. Lets ignore that shall we.

She waffles on
English Heritage’s ‘Heritage At Risk’ programme lists historic sites that are in danger of being lost through decay, neglect, or inappropriate development, to highlight where action is needed.
Grade 1 listed sites are those classed as having ‘outstanding architectural or historic interest’ and are designated by the government on the advice of English Heritage.
Liverpool’s Grade 1 listed buildings include the Liver Buildings, the Albert Dock, St George’s Hall and the Town Hall. Sefton Park and several places of worship across Merseyside also bear the classification.
The headline should have been look at The Wellington Rooms, or 84 Duke St, about to be demolished or St Andrews church.
Stop the Rot at the Echo.
The new interns drive all the same old stories forward on behalf of Alastair "Burger and Ships" Machray at The Daily Joe.

Museum of Liverpool-Its Just One Cock Up After Another.

MANCHESTER architect AEW is facing a £1.1m bill after being successfully sued by the Museum of Liverpool.

The museum's board took the firm to the High Court earlier in the year over design flaws at the new museum on the city's waterfront.

The claim centred around problems with steps and an amphitheatre-style seating area at entrances on either side of the building. There were also faults with the suspended ceilings, one of which collapsed.

During construction AEW and its contractors struggled to make the steps flow seamlessly into the seating area, a feature of the original designs, and contrived a concrete plinth to cover the discrepancy. When this was seen by the museum's director Sharon Granville it was described as "an abomination".

A judgement issued by Mr Justice Akenhead recognised that one of the contractors, a joint venture between Galliford Try and Danish builder Pihl, was also partially responsible. It has been ordered to pay £205,000 of the total £1.1m bill. A separate judgement relating to the work on the ceilings is expected in several weeks.

In his summary the judge said: "The truth is that AEW knew and must have known by the October or November 2009 period that there had been a serious mistake and that it was simply not possible to achieve the practical and aesthetic effect required by the client and indeed by the planning permission which had been obtained.

"It is simply extraordinary that competent architects could consider that it was acceptable to adopt the plinth solution in any event given their client’s aspirations and wishes and, even worse, without seeking the informed approval of its client."

Sharon Granville, executive director of the Museum of Liverpool, said: "The court has found in favour of National Museums Liverpool on all counts. We are very pleased with the outcome.

"This financial award for the external works means that we will now be able to rectify the long-standing issues with the external steps and terraces at the museum and make them accessible to the public as soon as possible. We are grateful for Mr Justice Akenhead's decision and await the financial award for the ceilings inside the museum in a few weeks time."

AEW's managing director Steve Burns said: "We are disappointed with the outcome of the case. The matter is being dealt with by our insurers and does not affect the ongoing health of the business, but we take criticism seriously.

"We pride ourselves on outstanding levels of service, a fact borne out by over 95% of our business being for repeat clients. The management structure of the company has completely changed since the events of 2009 and we have moved in a different direction since then."

Construction started in 2007 and the museum opened in 2011. The museum originally sought damages of £

Where Is The Liverpool World Heritage Site?

Well don't ask Damien, John Hinchliffe, The World Heritage Officer's press Officer.
I went to do a live show for Radio 5 live Drive after work, and he accompanied John Hinchliffe, for some strange reason?
They were warming themselves up for the live chat http://www.bbc.co.uk/i/b016w0sp/ slide the play bar to 1;48 to listen and I turned to Damien and asked him "Damien can you tell me where the World Heritage Boundaries Are"
He looked at me and stuttered "Errr"
"I am only asking a simple question" and repeated it,
"No" he said
"Isn't that a strange thing that the World Heritage Site Officer's, Press Officer does not know where it is, and wasn't it a request that Unesco made that the public at large should be informed by the Liverpool City Council as to its boundaries its principles and Architects and developers should be informed on its Overall Universal values so that protection can be afforded to it".

I don't know how john Hinchliffe can show his face with the mess that has happened while he has stood by and watched...idly.

I was out on a horrendous Mersey Ferry trip an hour before listening to the godawful commentary that you cant get away from, with Nick Ravenscroft. This was an interview to be broadcast on P.M radio 4 on Monday.
"Yes and this week they will roll out all the press power they can we may even see the elusive world heritage officer............whose press officer doe not even know where the world Heritage site is.
No you couldn't make it up.

Mann Island Developers Illegally Use The UNESCO Logo.

Mann Island Developers really do take the biscuit here. They destroy the world heritage site, turning it into blight and then make out as if it is all supported by Unesco. It is illegal to use a logo of a United Nations organisation without permission. This tacky advert with the WHS ringed, only serving to show how much they have got away with was in the Sunday Times last week. I have today written to Unesco complaining of the fact that the development "appears" to be supported by them. If anyone wants to join in writing to Unesco, please feel free.

Dear Sir,
This is a picture of an advert that has appeared in the Sunday Times advertising the Mann Island world heritage site.
Would you please advise me, on the the use of the Unesco logo.
1. Are the developers entitled to use the Unesco logo to make it appear that Unesco sanction the development.

Sharon Granville, of Liverpool Museums,Is Sent Out Again To Front Flemings Folly.

What does it take to work for Liverpool Museums? I know some of the most hardworking and respectable scholars in the country that work there.......and then there are those who are blind, who just run round sorting out Flemings cock-ups. Sharon Granville is one of those. She writes in to the Daily Ghost defending the abysmal level of cock ups, this time saying.

Museum story

REGARDING your article on Tuesday, August 24, concerning the new Museum of Liverpool, I would like to clarify some points: the building contract with the main contractor (PGT) is intact.
There is no issue of an expiry date or any need for renewal. All building contracts provide for a 12-month snagging period post-completion. The fact that a reduced PGT team is currently on site is completely unremarkable.
There is no question over the museum ownership: both the museum and the land are owned by National Museums Liverpool. The exhibition fit-out contract is under way, and the museum will open in 2011.
Sharon Granville, Project Director, Museum of Liverpool
http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/views/letters-to-editor/2010/09/01/letters-to-the-editor-september-1-92534-27176431/

She has written in a few time defending the old tin-pot running the place.
Defending Flemings Folly behaving like a museum Directors lap-dog.
If she is the project director then she should be sacked for the abysmal display of ineptitude.

Dicky Felt-tip P.A and Morrissey lover, the new high powered museum blagger wont be far behind this one either.
What will they do to defend him next when the muck hits the fan? http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/08/dr-david-fleming-to-be-investigated-by.html
What will they do when they are sacked and their jobs are done by volunteers? http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/07/are-liverpool-museums-skint-phil.html

How can you defend such a pointless waste of tax-payers money?
Unless you are the ones wasting the dosh.

Just look at the views above ruined for Flemings Folly who in his capacity as Director of the International Slavery Museum on Merseyside says he wants all young black men to feel shit.
Get him out.

Museum of Liverpool Contractors Galliford Try Fined for Bid Rigging.

Office of Fair Trading fines construction sector £129m for bid-rigging.
Numerous firms that were working and pricing jobs in Liverpool.
Many of those jobs were from the Objective One European slosh fund.

Ever wondered how much a project costed and thought you could build 5 of them for that price?
Ever thought how it cost 20 million for a concrete Cruise Liner tie up? Or thought, what, 10 million pounds for a ticket desk for a terminal Ferry Carbuncle? Or thought, How much, to build a museum shouldn't that be about half the cost?. I know I have......many times.
I wrote to Colin "Cover Up" Hilton complaining of the amount it was costing to build, what is after all a ticket desk and guess what he was not interested. Considering Mike Storey and Warren Bradley picked him for the job, thats hardly suprising.

So, just how Many Public Projects in the Liverpool binge build years have been overpriced, if any, could we have been fleeced by the cartel of builders bidding for the work? Well it seems there are quite a few questions that need asking. The OFT have fined a load of builders for the illegal practice.
The Contractors of the Carbuncle Museum in the Pier Head have been singled out for Frigging in the Rigging with public financed contracts.

Isn't that a Disgrace. Shouldnt an inquiry be carried out?
Ever wondered why the Oldham Echo and the Daily Ghost, Does not do any work to explore these sort of topics. Are they just lazy, overworked or just oblivious to anything that is going on around them?
Or do they just wait for a call off the Council or the Museums, or Peel Holdings and then print PR plod day in day out.

Dylan Harvey Residential goes Bango!!

What a shame it was not before they have contributed to blight of the world heritage site at Liverpools Pier Head.
Administrators CLB Coopers are putting a brave face on it and saying the Mann Island scheme is a different venture. http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0100regionalnews/tm_headline=mann-island-deal-is-the-biggest-in-city-8217-s-history%26method=full%26objectid=20360597%26siteid=50061-name_page.html
The pathetic reporters in the local papers had already had the wool pulled over their eyes by the developers and they had told us that all apartments had been sold to Dylan Harvey. How little they know about business at the business section. Have Dylan Harvey and what associated company of theirs bought these apartments. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/07/dylan-harvey-developers-behind-mann.html
Dylan Harvey act as property brokers and as the LPT post of several weeks hence warned Liverpool investors to be very weary indeed of investing in the scheme next to the giant carbon monoxide chimney, the Mersey Tunnel Ventilating Shaft.
