Save The Futurist-Private Eye Slam Neptune Developments and City Council For Proposing An Eyesore.

Sometimes You need a look from out of the city to realise just how crass a proposal is. Private Eye is good at that. Maybe then it wakes up the local planners and the dictator of a Mayor Mr Anderson to realise that you cant carry on vandalising your heritage at the behest of the city council's  property developing mates. This is a cosy relationship. One of Neptunes Directors used to work for the City Council planning department. But the real question is how can a city that is a World Heritage City even consider allowing such a bad proposal in the first place? We all know in the city that this is a ugly scheme. Maybe the Chubby version of Derek Hatton can now wake up  and use his dictatorship to send his mates packing right back to the drawing board.
Don't forget the developers and their architects are the same ones that built the Three Black Coffins on Mann Island that scar our world Heritage blight forever.

Mann Island Has Structural Problems-Why Wont The Local Press Report It,

It take Private Eye to mention it. Its only a footnote and what of the fact, that,  for nearly two years there has been a crane next to The Black Coffins on Mann Island. This development by Matt Brooks of Broadway Malyan  is quite rightly noted by 'Piloti' in NOOKS AND CORNERS as destroying the best views of Liverpool.  http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/mann-island-has-structural-problems.html Those cherished views from the Albert Dock over to The Port Of Liverpool Buildings. Not forgetting this is also the view, that Liverpool Museums also had to pay out £750,000 to spoil. How can you make such a pigs ear out of a silk purse.
Fuzzy Felt Fleming of Liverpool museums now has the architect of Liverpool's giant sunlounger in court. No not Kim Neilson of 3XN who he sacked, the other one who he is now blaming for the mess. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2013/03/04/national-museums-liverpool-bid-for-compensation-over-design-of-new-museum-of-liverpool-to-begin-in-high-court-next-month-100252-32921631/
Ho many different people ill old fuzzy felt blame

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2013/03/05/date-set-for-museum-of-liverpool-high-court-case-against-architects-100252-32923436/

It is nice to see Private Eye keeping a close lookout on Liverpool's new found prosperity, which seems to be at the cost of the homogenisation of Liverpool's World Heritage Site. It now looks increasingly likely that Unesco will soon remove World Heritage Site status from us. What a loss this will be.

Maritime Disaster at the Merseyside Maritime Museum.

Our friends at Seven Streets highlighted last week, the lack of diners at the Maritime Museum Dining Rooms at the Albert Dock. Another one of the wacky director, Dr David Flemings schemes, overseen by the trustees and their Chairman Big Society Tory Phil Redmond.                They call it a Fright at the Museum and its delicous stuff. http://www.sevenstreets.com/food-and-drink/a-fright-at-the-museum/  Served up on a platter of irony with just a touch of relish on the side. Here is what the racist comment maker "Fuzzy Felt" Fleming had to say about it in the museum insider in 2009 when it opened. click on the pics Hey he's so clever.

Maybe considering its next to the slavery museum his wishes to make "all young black men feel shit" it has worked. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/08/i-want-all-young-black-men-to-feel-shit.html
Maybe that's why there is nobody there. Seven Streets show a picture, they were just a bit late with the shutter speed to catch the tumbleweed drifting through.
They say, "How to take a winning formula and kill it stone dead. Why Merseyside Maritime Museum's Restaurant has sunk without trace"...  worth a read.

I commented at the time. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/10/maritime-dining-rooms-maritime-disaster.html

When the tin pot dictator, I mean director took out all the Herculaneum pottery, because in my opinion he is not educated enough to understand how important it is to Liverpool history and how volunteers painstakingly researched and built up the collection over decades. Only to see a racist comment maker, who thinks he's clever destroy their hard work for another cafe.
He should have been a director of Starbucks not our museums.

Or maybe its because of the way the Pier head looks.
Now to enter the Maritime Museum you have to go past the awful Mann Island and past the obnoxious scrawling architectural disaster that is the new museum. That some people at Seven Sheets seem to like, well there is no accounting for taste, but there are other views there too. http://www.sevenstreets.com/city-living/feature-city-living/total-eclipse-of-the-heart-mann-island/
Remember though that the Mann Island Coffins designed by Matt Brooks, http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2006/03/09/this-is-architect-matt-brook-s-vision-for-the-pier-head-is-it-right-for-the-waterfront-100252-16793395/ oh, and the museum, along with the Canal Cut are of the same funding package and were always treated as one.  http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/07/mann-island-funds-new-museum-its-fact.html

I am reliably informed that Morrissey worshiper, Dicky Felt-tip, Flemings personal PR is under instructions to distance all publicity linking the museum, the White Coffin, to the Black Coffins.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/07/dr-david-fleming-now-he-is-winging.html  Whinging about budget cuts.
Don't let them get to you, if so much money had not have been wasted paying out for covenants or settling legal disputes, or wasted on overcharging http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/09/museum-of-liverpool-contractors.html     the once proud institution would not be in such a financial mess.

Well what do you expect from a regime whose directors favourite museum is The Museum of Genocide Victims in Vilnius and who wants "all young black men to feel shit"

Museum of Liverpool-Acknowledged As A Sad Rip Off of Rome's Maxxi?

This is the first time Zaha Hadid Architects has been awarded the RIBA Stirling Prize, having been shortlisted for the prize on three previous occasions (Nord Park Cable Railway, Austria, 2008; Phaeno Science Center, Wolfsburg, Germany, 2006; BMW Central Building, Leipzig, Germany, 2005).

You may look at the picture on the left..... look familiar......yes its the exact same window on the Museum of Liverpool in the World Heritage site. We were told that we were getting something Iconic and what it happens, we get is a Rome MAXXI Zaha Hadid rip off which was acknowledged by several correspondents, writing, when Liverpool won the 2009 Carbuncle Cup award for the Terminal Ferry Building.  http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/07/museum-of-liverpool-is-nominated-for.html
This year the Rome MAXXI rip off was nominated and accepted to the long list for the same BD Carbuncle Cup award but as its been delayed..... again till 2011.......it was not accepted to the shortlist for that reason.
I do get fed up being talked down to by the architectural profession and then the 'speak' is generally packaged by a reporter who knows nothing of architecture, who wouldnt even know how to put a shelf up.
http://www.architecture.com/NewsAndPress/News/RIBANews/Press/2010/MAXXIMuseuminRomebyZahaHadidArchitectswinstheRIBAStirlingPrize2010.aspx

But Liverpool was honoured by RIBA for a public realm award.
For the canal link that goes right past the Liverpool Daily Ghost Editor, Mark Thomas favourite building, the Terminal Ferry Building at the Pier Head. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/10/liverpools-pier-head-and-its-new.html
Its not good down there, a mess infact, they turned a green vista able to withstand the strains of concert events and New Year celebrations into some sort of anachronism that was never designed to have this function. The original architects must be turning in their graves. Now you can see what a mess they, at CABE http://www.cabe.org.uk/design-review/mann-island-2 have advised upon.
Incidently it was previously reported that  ARCHITECT Matt Brook has been elected to represent the region on the profession’s governing body.

http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/ldpbusiness/business-local/2009/07/02/architect-s-riba-role-to-promote-design-excellence-92534-24053919/
It was said Mr Brook, who opened Broadway Malyan’s Liverpool office in 2007, will serve as a North West representative on the Royal Institute of British Architects’ National Council.

So, Matt Brookes the architect of disaster who is in charge of building the Three Black Coffins at the Pier Head is a area delegate for RIBA who give out an award.  http://www.architecture.com/NewsAndPress/News/RIBANews/News/2010/ThePierHeadandCanalLinkwinsthe2010RIBACABEPublicSpaceAward.aspx

Clever people these architects.
