Michael Hesseltine-Peels Poodle. Why Is He Promoting The Loss Of World Heritage. While Pretending To Want To Save It?

Tarzan...swings in and save the day for Liverpool directly after the 1981 Toxteth Riots.

He brings with him a team of developers and architects.

The Albert Dock is recognised as Liverpool's fulcrum of regeneration. The starting point of the long hall back to being on centre stage for this great city.

To negate the Labour Party Hessletine teamed up with Sir Trevor Jones, the one who started all the  corruption and as bad as Liverpool has had. He became Mayor and leader of the Liberal Democrats while living on the Duke of Westminster's Estate.

He once demolished the last ships chandlers while a listing application was being considered by English Heritage. His wife Doreen was chair of the planning committee. Who passed by casting vote The Black Coffins of Mann Island. Only on Murkeyside.

Then the gamekeeper turns poacher and after becoming Minister for Merseyside and becoming mates with Joe Anderson and adds to the corrupt regime by promoting bad development on behalf of Peel Holdings.

Hezza lives on a massive estate and has been building a legacy for future generations...his garden.

While the idiot has been assisting in the destruction of Liverpool's World Heritage Site while giving the impression he cares.

He was recent signatory to a letter sent to Unesco pleading with them not to delete Liverpool from the World Heritage register.

Not in his back yard but its all right in mine. Shame on you Micheal, Shame.

RIBA North Open.........In Liverpool Mann Island Carbuncle.

You couldn't make this up.
The Royal Institute Of British Architects, the revered society and patrons of our architectural history......open in Mann Island.
They start off their tenure with an exhibition of buildings that were never built.
Just look at what one of their architects did to Liverpool's Pier Head.
Yes they are basically the same views you are looking at, but now you cant see the majesty of what was left from Liverpool's Maritime and glorious past because a RIBA architect wrecked the place.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/mann-island-shortlisted-for-carbuncle.html

So lets put this in perspective,
An exhibition of buildings that were never built .....in a building that should never have been built.  http://www.bbc.co.uk/liverpool/content/articles/2006/07/25/mann_island_resubmittedplans_feature.shtml

Runner up in BD carbuncle cup awards 2012.
To Peel Holdings Media City, yes Peel Holdings who have got Liverpool on The World Heritage In Danger List.

Matt Brook the so called architect should have been struck off for this monstrosity but now the body that he is north west representative award him by taking space in his creation.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/matt-brook-of-broadway-malyan-architect.html

So now when Liverpool's World Heritage Site Status is in ruins RIBA come along and pat one of their members on the back...................If it wasn't so tragic it would be hilarious.

Promoted by the sill editors of The Daily Ghost.....R.I.P and the Liverpool Echo......printed in Oldham, while all the warning signs were there, the educated idiots who edited the papers played follow the leader and unfortunately Fib-Dem Warren Bradley was the leader of the council at the time.

Mann Island Has Structural Problems-Why Wont The Local Press Report It,

It take Private Eye to mention it. Its only a footnote and what of the fact, that,  for nearly two years there has been a crane next to The Black Coffins on Mann Island. This development by Matt Brooks of Broadway Malyan  is quite rightly noted by 'Piloti' in NOOKS AND CORNERS as destroying the best views of Liverpool.  http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/mann-island-has-structural-problems.html Those cherished views from the Albert Dock over to The Port Of Liverpool Buildings. Not forgetting this is also the view, that Liverpool Museums also had to pay out £750,000 to spoil. How can you make such a pigs ear out of a silk purse.
Fuzzy Felt Fleming of Liverpool museums now has the architect of Liverpool's giant sunlounger in court. No not Kim Neilson of 3XN who he sacked, the other one who he is now blaming for the mess. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2013/03/04/national-museums-liverpool-bid-for-compensation-over-design-of-new-museum-of-liverpool-to-begin-in-high-court-next-month-100252-32921631/
Ho many different people ill old fuzzy felt blame

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2013/03/05/date-set-for-museum-of-liverpool-high-court-case-against-architects-100252-32923436/

It is nice to see Private Eye keeping a close lookout on Liverpool's new found prosperity, which seems to be at the cost of the homogenisation of Liverpool's World Heritage Site. It now looks increasingly likely that Unesco will soon remove World Heritage Site status from us. What a loss this will be.

Mann Island Has Structural Problems

There has been a crane permanently at Mann Island for over a year now even though the building is finished. Workers have been getting hoisted up every week.......panels on, panels off. There seems to be a particular problem with the point on the Albert Dock middle building. They told us they were building a quality building and some people even believed them. Here you can see the construction methods consisting of a panel hung on to a rail. The same sort of hanging that the Malmaison just over the other side of the Pier Head at Princes Dock.....where all the panels had to be removed and replaced.
When will they realise that in this location it needs a good solid structure that will endure the elements and lego style stick-a-brick construction is an accident waiting to happen. Architect Matt Brook of Broadway Malyan not only destroyed the World Heritage Site with his Three Black Coffins. They were built badly. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/matt-brook-of-broadway-malyan-architect.html We say he should be struck off for this world heritage disaster that Doreen Jones sanctioned by casting vote at the 2006 planning committee meeting that went to a four against four vote.

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2006/03/09/this-is-architect-matt-brook-s-vision-for-the-pier-head-is-it-right-for-the-waterfront-100252-16793395/ The Echo even said it was good for the city. To think work started when Liverpool was European Capital of Culture.............It would be hard to make this up.

A panel fell off the Tesco on the facade of the Travelodge opposite with a similar fixing method.

Would you buy one of these flats with your hard earned cash?

I thought it would be at least 10 years before bits fell off but there you go how wrong can one be.

Matt Brook of Broadway Malyan-Architect of World Heritage Vandalism.

The Architect of Mann Island in Liverpool's World Heritage Site Matt Brook.
If there is a bigger crime against architecture then we don't know of it.
To obscure the best views in a World Heritage Site should be a punishable offence.
He should have his practising license removed by RIBA and made a example of.
He should be held up as an example of how not to build a set of modern buildings in a World Heritage Site.
To destroy a heritage asset that is comparable with the Taj Mahal and the Pyramids and the Great Wall of China he should be at least struck off.
There should be laws against Architects who leave the public with such ugly monstrous carbuncles and then bugger off somewhere else.
The picture on the right is what we in Liverpool had before Neptune Developments employed Matt Brook of Broadway Malyan to vandalise it.
Graham Fisher of the Victorian Socirty said at the planning committee meeting in 2006, "It is a miracle that such a wonderful vista has survived".
Then Doreen Jones passed her casting vote and sent it off for approval. Someone shouted at her "Shame on you Doreen"
She had no shame and never will have her and her dodgy property developing husband who knocked down the last ships chandlers in Liverpool.
The English Heretics are not without blame for this.
If someone who lives in a listed building will know, you need a letter from the Pope to change your windows but here in  a World Heritage Site........A Conservation Area and next to, and adjacent to several Listed Buildings that had covenants protecting them they plonk Three Black Coffins that are so bad that they make the city a laughing stock, unless you are Peter Brown of the Merseyside Civic Society that is who taught (sic) Matt Brook at Liverpool University.

So lets take a look at what he did to such fantastic views in a World Heritage Site, click on the picture below if you cant quite see the cupola of the Port of Liverpool buildings and the Liver Buildings towers.
This is almost the same view. The picture below that shows the New Museum of Liverpool last years Carbuncle Cup Award runner up......to Peel Holdings Media City.

One of the Three Black Carbuncles at Mann Island should be named Matt Brook House so every one in the world will know he is the architect of World Heritage Vandalism.
Broadway Malyan the company he works for should be fined for leaving us with three carbuncles in the WHS.

Announced as a contender for The Carbuncle Cup Award last year they escaped by claiming that it was not finished.
Just how did they do this in a WHS.

But this year they are primed to take poll position in the Carbuncle Cup and quite rightly so they have been shortlisted.

A Crime Against Architecture.

Typical Architects profession though they give him more responsibility, you couldn't make this up
Broadway Malyan's Brook named on RIBA council

1 Jul 2009, 14:27

Matt Brook, director of Broadway Malyan's Liverpool since it opened in 2007, has been appointed to the Royal Institute of British Architects' National Council on a three-year term.
The RIBA National Council sets strategic policy for the institute and spearheads its work to promote design excellence.
Brook, a Liverpool John Moores University graduate, is the youngest director at Broadway Malyan, a practice with offices across the UK, Europe and Asia. He designed the Mann Island development for Neptune and Countryside on Liverpool's waterfront, and recently unveiled plans for an office development in the city at 30 Pall Mall.
Brook said: "One of the great things about RIBA is that the Council has strong regional representation. It's recognition that innovation and excellence are not just things that happen in London. There has been a fantastic architectural renaissance in the North West.
"I want to repay the confidence that has been put in me by RIBA members, by advocating for the North West and ensuring that what is happening here is recognised and promoted."
RIBA North West regional director, Belinda Irlam-Mowbray, commented: "We have always aimed to ensure that this region plays an active and influential role at national level, and with Matt representing us that is sure to happen. He is one of the new generation of North West architects who has been transforming the physical fabric of our towns and cities with innovative and exciting buildings. I think he will be a great advocate for the region."
Brook was also recently reappointed to the Northwest Design Review Panel, run by Places Matter, consisting of experts from a range of fields, including architecture, planning, development, urban design, civil and structural engineering, the historic environment, landscape design, and sustainability.

Here is what we thought of it.

This is what he said in March. in The Architects Journal
Matt Brook, director of global architecture, urbanism and design at Broadway Malyan

http://www.architectsjournal.co.uk/news/daily-news/dc-cabe-to-refresh-design-panels/8627185.article
There are two potential paying audiences for design review: local authorities and private developers. Paying for external design reviews would be a very cost-effective way for resource-strapped local authorities to bolster their in-house design advice. For developers, paying for a design review service would help ensure that their product is the best possible in a very competitive market, while also helping fast-track the planning process.

To become a more effective tool for clients, potential failings need to be addressed. Review teams must remain consistent for repeat reviews and have good local knowledge. However, the key aspect of design review that needs to change in the UK is its planning status. Design review needs to at least become a material consideration. It also needs to happen at an early stage, before applications are made.

Mann Island-Shortlisted For Carbuncle Cup Award

They got away with it last year by claiming it was not finished but this year it has been shortlisted for the Carbuncle Cup Award run by Building Design Magazine.
http://www.bdonline.co.uk/news/carbuncle-cup-2012-the-shortlist/5040098.article
 BD says
Our list also boasts two wrist-slashingly awful housing schemes: the dismally proportioned, thinly detailed and grimly utilitarian Firepool Lock in Taunton and the Mann Island development in Liverpool, a scheme that completes the desecration of that city’s once great waterfront.

Matt Brook the poor excuse for an Architect. He of World Heritage disaster at Mann Island will have to accept the prize there can be no other more worthy winner for the 2011 Carbuncle Cup award than the atrocious Three Black Coffins built by Broadway Malyan for Neptune Developments.

They promised us Iconic and give us Ichronic, an anachronism of bad design plonked bang slappo in the world heritage site despoiling the best views of Liverpool, cherished views, they turn Liverpool's World Heritage Site into World Heritage S*ite.

Is Liverpools Regeneration A Plastic Facade of Bad Design.

 BEFORE..............................................
And After
We live in an age where architects can largely only understand how to make boxes. Just look at the Three Black Coffins at The Pier Head.
Gone are the days of architects (or CAD monkeys as most of them are now called) can understand scale and its relation to the human spirit.
Crow-bared into the place of architectural equilibrium is a stagnation forced by the need of most architects to give up their past principles and start to understand the needs of the developer and his corner cutting methods of construction.

Where has the need to employ craftspeople gone,to make things that people can be overawed with? Why was Matt Brook of Broadway Malyan allowed to do this piece of architectural vandalism with a World Heritage Site.

Where did this cold calculating off the peg finish that has invaded our cities come from?
Why have the architectural schools trained a flock of sheep to plop the country with pieces of architectural rubbish?

A town is an open air museum Jonathan Meades says and there is some truth in this.
He says about Bilbao. http://www.bbc.co.uk/i/b01j5fw0/

That it spawned a new method of architectural regeneration that gave the idea that you jet in a jet lagged architectural big name to work within the parameters of the Regional Development Authorities grant structure.

He says Salford Quays is a soulless place of architectural bling full of museums with nothing in them.
He says regeneration of the new Labour years has been a racket.

Theories of city making and the icy perfection of regeneration comes into question.

Anna Minton who wrote the book "Ground Control" and worked quite hard to take into account the effect of Liverpool One style developments, and other gated communities on the people who live within and around them.

Have a listen to the radio 4 programme, which is an intellectual debate not based around Liverpool but it could be related to the past years of madness.

White Star Building Hit By Storms-James Street Closed.

They spent a fortune on the "Three Black Coffins" at Mann Island while The White Star Building on the corner of James Street and the Strand lies rotting waiting for it to fall down so the site can be developed. Today it has happened with parts of the building falling off.
Built by Norman Shaw to a similar design of Scotland Yard with bands of brick and white Portland stone it is historic if not only for being the place that all families gathered when the Titanic sank, being the company headquarters.
We warned of this years ago.
Call This Regeneration, or maybe a tale of two cities.

It seems there is money to trash the world heritage site, but none to maintain our historic buildings.

This is what Amanda Baillieu editor of BD said at the time.
Liverpool Ferry Terminal wins Carbuncle Cup 2009

28 August 2009
By Amanda Baillieu

Despite strong competition from a record number of entries, this year’s winning building by Belfast-based Hamilton Architects is a shining example of bad architecture and bad planning

This year architecture’s only prize for sheer downright ugliness has seen a record number of entries: buildings so drab, hostile, or puffed up with their own self-importance they made you queasy, angry and depressed.

Many of you wailed at opportunities lost, egos gone unchecked, or sheer downright laziness, while others wanted the prize to go not simply to the architect but to the clients and the local authority that waved these hideous schemes through planning. http://www.bdonline.co.uk/story.asp?sectioncode=430&storycode=3147432&channel=783&c=2

The winner is the building that shows how bad architecture and bad planning can combine to produce something truly awful — a building so ugly it can turn human flesh to stone or at the very least make grown men cry.
These arguments only got going when it came to deciding an order for the final three: Make’s Amenity building for Nottingham University, Belfast-based Hamilton Architects’ Ferry Terminal in Liverpool and Queen Margaret University campus, Lothian by Dyer Associates.
In the end the three judges, BD’s buildings editor Ellis Woodman, BD columnist and critic Owen Hatherley and architect Sean Griffiths of Fat were split between the Nottingham and Liverpool buildings.
Both buildings are appalling, they said, but after much deliberation they decided that, given the damage inflicted by the ferry terminal on what is a Unesco world heritage site, it was the more worthy recipient.
“It is such an amazing site, directly in front of the Three Graces, but the architects seem barely to have noticed. It is like letting a bad second-year student build next to St Peter’s,” said the judges despairingly.
“This is bad patronage by an ignorant council which thinks having jazzy architecture is putting the city on the map again.”
Completed this summer by Hamilton Architects (not to be confused with Hamiltons) the £9.5 million building incorporates ferry operations, a Beatles museum and a rooftop restaurant. It is cantilevered on two sides and clad in limestone to complement the new Liverpool Museum next door.
“The architect evidently once looked at a Zaha building in a magazine,” said the judges. “It is essentially a horrible sectional idea that has been extruded like a stick of rock. The long elevations couldn’t be more tedious, the Dr Caligari end facades no more grotesque. When you go there you think: oh no, I can’t believe they’ve done that.

Citation: “Just what have they done! If there was a plan to build three giant Black Coffins across The Taj Mahal or the Pyramids imagine the world outrage.

“This eyesore is in Liverpools World Heritage Site and obscures what was my most cherished view of my city. Even worse when you consider this obliteration was the view on the front cover of every book and postcard of Liverpool.”

What do you think?

And it really is worth remembering just what it looked like before the morons destroyed our best views.

Mann Island-Radio 4 Take An Interest For Its Beyond Westminster Programme

I was asked for an opinion to the Mann Island Disgrace for Radio 4's Beyond Westminster which was aired Saturday Last. Its worth a listen http://www.bbc.co.uk/i/b010r7by/ on the BBC i-player.. Mann Island is about 12 minutes into the intelligent programme about planning and the new localism bill.
Steve Parry makes a weak defence for his atrocious development that political strings, by the likes of, The Dame of Disaster, Doreen Jones who played the casting vote, were well and truly pulled.

Beyond Westminster - The Perils of Planning
John Kampfner examines what the coalition's new proposals for planning decisions mean for 'localism'.

This week's Beyond Westminster looks at one of the most controversial elements of local politics: planning. Planning decisions for new developments are usually fraught and most people agree there needs to be change.

In the latest budget, the Chancellor, George Osborne announced he wants to see a 'presumption in favour of a yes to sustainable development in future planning decisions'. At the same time, the government has introduced a localism bill which will empower local communities to have more say in planning decisions. Can the two approaches work together?

John Kampfner visit the Copmanthorpe Wind Action Group, battling against wind turbines and Paul Vickers reports from Merseyside where a controversial new development, the Mann Island project has polarised opinion.

Producer: Paul Vickers.

Mann Island Director Toby Whittaker of Dylan Harvey-Cleared of Fraud, But His Electrician Pleads Guilty.

It has been reported in several newspaper out of the city, but despite the constant advertorials on the Mann Island Development this is what is not printed!!!!!!!!!!

Read businessman 'lied to claim insurance on £120,000 Rolex'
http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/7987213.Read_businessman__lied_to_claim_insurance_on___120_000_Rolex_/

5:18pm Tuesday 6th April 2010

A WEALTHY businessman from Lancashire lied to claims investigators when he realised his stolen £120,000 Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch would not be covered by his insurance, a court has heard.
The diamond-encrusted gent's platinum watch was among valuables burgled from the mansion of property developer Toby Whittaker in December 2008.
Whittaker, 32, of Read, in the Ribble Valley, initially told police the watch was taken from his bedroom while he was out enjoying a meal with his wife, but gave a different story to insurers and said it was snatched from an underfloor safe in the home, Preston Crown Court was told.
The limited edition timepiece was only covered for theft if the owner wore it, stored it in a safe or kept it at their side if they took it off. The defendant was also said to have panicked when he wrongly thought the whole claim would be invalidated because the house alarm was not set.
He is alleged to have then conspired with a director of the alarm firm to make a false report that stated the alarm had not activated for technical reasons which was no fault of the householder.
Whittaker denies one count of conspiracy to defraud Zurich Insurance and one count of fraud.
Three hooded men struck at his home in Back Lane and smashed his front door down before they ransacked the property of the watch, jewellery, guns and £20,000 in cash.
They then loaded the haul into Whittaker's Range Rover vehicle and made off.
The defendant raised the alarm when he returned home on the evening of December 19.
Andrew Longworth, prosecuting, said Whittaker told a police constable at the crime scene that the alarm had not been set and his wife, Jennifer, further explained they would not activate it if they left the house for a short period of time.
Ironically his top-level insurance did not require the alarm to be set, added the prosecutor, so his actions were "all for nothing".
But he said the essence of the offence was the agreement to tell a lie.
Whitworth also went on to tell a claims investigator that the thieves must have found the key to the safe and stole his watch and cash. The trial, expected to last three days, continues.

East Lancs businessman forged alarm records after burglary

9:00am Saturday 29th May 2010

BUSINESSMAN lost his wife, his job and almost his firm after ‘helping’ a millionaire friend by forging burglar alarm records, a court was told.

Stefan Halenko, 56, the director of Blackburn Alarms, based in Davyfield Road, had earlier pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud Zurich Insurance.
His falsification was said to have cost his property tycoon friend Toby Whittaker, who he regarded as ‘family’, a £400,000 insurance payout.
Despite all that, Halenko left court smiling yesterday after being given a community sentence by deputy circuit Judge Charles Mahon.
Preston Crown Court heard that Halenko's firm had fitted the £25,000 high-level security system at Mr Whittaker, the boss of Dylan Harvey, home in Read.
Mr Whittaker was burgled in December 2008 with hundreds of thousands of pounds of jewellery stolen and the alarm had not been set.
Prosecuting, Nigel Booth, said Halenko produced a forged 'alarm event log' purporting to show the alarm had been set.
In a ‘cruel irony’, it was later revealed that Mr Whittaker's insurance policy did not require the alarm to be set.
However, Halenko’s act made Whittaker’s claim void, costing him most of the £400,000 payout for his stolen property, including his £120,00 diamond encrusted Rolex watch and wife’s jewellery.
A month after the burglary, Halenko, of Mayfield Gardens, Oswaldtwistle, confessed to Zurich claims investigator Lol Pedley, leading to a police prosecution against Halenko and Whittaker for a conspiracy to defraud.
Mr Booth said Halenko's guilty plea was on the basis that he was asked for help by Mr Whittaker between December 18 and 20.
“He agreed to go along with the story that the alarm was set because Mr Whittaker was telling everybody it was set,” Mr Booth said.
Last month, Mr Whittaker was acquitted after a trial of the same conspiracy charge as well as fraud.
During the evidence, his defence claimed that Halenko had acted alone to 'ingratiate' himself with his best client and maintain a contract worth £2m to Blackburn Alarms providing security for Mr Whittaker's businesses. It represented 90 per cent of the firm's business.
However, Michael Maher, for Halenko, told the court yesterday that his client was 'bemused' to find himself effectively having conspired with an innocent man.
Mr Maher said that although Halenko insisted Mr Whittaker did not put any pressure on him to falsify the records, he was 'not a man you said no to' and was 'genuinely upset that he was not going to be recompensed'.
The solicitor said Halenko's guilty plea not only voided Mr Whittaker's claim, despite his acquittal, but had lead to the 'massive downturn' of his Blackburn business.
In April, he resigned, resulting in his son having to come back from New Zealand to pick up the firm which was on it's 'last legs'. The case had also lead to the breakdown of his marriage.
His last company tax bill was down from £20,000-£30,000 the previous year, to £500 for the past 12 months.
Mr Maher said it was a 'genuine sadness' that a man in his mid 50s of previous good character had a 'moment of madness' prompted by a desire to help a close friend.
Judge Mahon said Halenko woud have benefitted 'over time' from Mr Whittaker and said he had been in a 'position of trust'.
He gave him 12 months supervision and 80 hours unpaid work.
Halenko declined to comment after the case.

Read property mogul breaks down in tears in court

5:27pm Wednesday 7th April 2010

A MILLIONAIRE property mogul received kidnap threats against his children in the months before his mansion was burgled, a court heard.

Toby Whittaker, 32, of Back Lane, Read, invested in a £25,000 top-of-the-range security system to protect his family after thugs sent him pictures of his four young children's school, his house, and his father's, solicitor's and accountant's houses, along with kidnap threats.
Whittaker is accused of conspiracy to defraud and fraud in relation to alleged falsified burglar alarm records and an insurance claim in the wake of the £400,000 raid in December 2008.
He denies changing his story to say a £120,000 diamond-encrusted Rolex Oyster Perpetual was kept in a safe and also denies conspiring with burglar alarm company owner Stefan Halenko, to provide Zurich insurance with false documents showing the alarm had been set.
Whittaker, the son of a former Blackburn police officer, took to the stand at Preston Crown Court and explained he had made his money in the buy-to-let market during the property boom.
But he said after receiving the threats he told Mr Halenko he wanted 'as good a system as he could get'.
He disputed prosecution evidence that he and his wife of six years Jennifer had told officers at the scene that the alarm wasn't set.
“The only time I would not have set the alarm was if we took the dogs for a walk around the grounds for 10 or 15 minutes or maybe if I nipped to the shop during the day.
“Every time we leave the house my wife asks me two questions which irritate me and they are 'GSM?' – got some money, and 'have you set the alarm?'
Whittaker broke down in tears as he recalled the conversation with his wife and two officers soon after they returned home to their burgled manor house.
“My wife was crying on the settee saying 'you haven't set the alarm'. I said I had set it but it hadn't worked.
http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/7989903.Read_property_mogul_breaks_down_in_tears_in_court/

“One officer said we wouldn't be covered by the insurance and I told him not to worry about because I had good insurance.”

The trial is expected to conclude today.

He may have got off with it but happened to all thse investors that lost a fortune out of his failed business ventures.

Dylan Harvey boss cleared of fraud charges

12 Apr 2010, 07:45
Michael Hunt
Toby Whittaker, whose Dylan Harvey Residential business collapsed last year owing creditors £6.5m, has been cleared of faking burglar alarm records and lying to an insurance claims investigator after a burglary at his home.
Whittaker, 32, was cleared of allegations he lied to claim insurance on a stolen £120,000 Rolex watch, which was among £400,000 of goods burgled from his mansion in December 2008.
The property developer was accused of conspiring with Stefan Halenko, director of Blackburn Alarms, to produce a false burglar alarm record to show his alarm had been set at the time of the raid.
He was also charged with fraud, with the prosecution claiming he lied about keeping an expensive Rolex watch in a safe.
A jury was told by Whittaker's defence barrister, David Turner QC, that Halenko had acted alone to 'ingratiate' himself with his best client.
Halenko had already admitted to producing the false burglar alarm records and will be sentenced at a later date.
Whittaker gave evidence at Preston Crown Court last week and said his family had received kidnap threats prior to the burglary.
The court heard that Whittaker turned to Halenko, who he had a £2m contract with for his property portfolio, which represented a 90% of the company's business.
A total of eight security cameras, amongst other security measures, were installed and Whittaker also took out a £5,000-a-year home insurance policy arranged through family broker John Meadows.
It was later discovered that the alarm did not even need to be set for Whittaker's home insurance policy to cover his losses.
In February this year Whittaker was beaten up and his family threatened when six men robbed their £1.5m home in Read, near Blackburn.

The armed gang forced his wife and their four children to hide under a dining table while he was assaulted before the men fled with jewellery. The robbers used Whittaker's £60,000 Audi Q7 4x4 car for their getaway. http://www.placenorthwest.co.uk/news/archive/5835-dylan-harvey-boss-cleared-of-fraud-charges.html

Mann Island-Another Liverpool Daily Post Advertorial.

There should be laws against this.
We all know that Jon Egan of October Communications, now Aurora PR is editing Bill "Physco" Gleesons business pages at the Daily Ghost, but this is a advertorial by any other name.
Mark Thomas, the editor really should learn to know better than to make it this blatent.
You may think this is a one off but not really it is part of the Culture of Capital that is prevalent at Oldham Hall Street.
Where the news is controlled by ex Trinity Mirror employees now working for PR companies....or in fact moonlighting, on the sly, while still working there.

So who says so, me, well maybe there are others.

Correspondent wrote some time ago about it. Tuesday, September 29, 2009

The Americans Call This An Infomercial
Daily Ghost editor Mark Thomas will, no doubt, protest that his publication is "pro-business". So far, so obvious; it's the sort of thing any provincial editor will say.

There is, however, a distinction to be made between reporting on commerce in Liverpool & publishing PR pieces which amount to free advertising. In this regard, the Ghost has long fallen short. Matters are made more murky by the role of Larry Nield, late of the Oldham Hall Street parish, now, of course, a leading light at October Communications/Aurora Media.
Take this innocuous-looking piece in this morning's edition: http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2009/09/29/liverpool-firms-take-time-to-mingle-92534-24803757/  ).
The Liverpool law firm Hill Dickinson hosted "a networking event for 'the next generation' of city professionals."
So what, you might ask. Well, Hill Dickinson is a client of October/Aurora http://www.octobercomms.co.uk/clients.html .
Mutual back-scratching facilitated by an ex-Oldham Hall Street hack isn't a crime. Nor, however, is it journalism, it's PR. Mark Thomas really should do the decent thing & insert the words "advertising feature" at the top of pieces such as this.

How about it, Mark? http://condensedthoughts.blogspot.com/2009/09/americans-call-this-infomercial.html

What happened to this Mann Island article that never appeared in the Daily Ghost buried in the foundations of Manchester docks that survived the blitz, but never survived the developers. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/08/mann-island-dylan-harvey-director_18.html

Mann Island-Dylan Harvey Director Bailed on Suspicion of Fraud it is Alleged

ZURICH FALSE ALARM.
As reported in Crains Manchester
July 27, 2009 Toby Whittaker, managing director of Salford-based property broker Dylan Harvey, has appeared at Blackburn Magistrates' Court charged with conspiracy to defraud Zurich Insurance. He is jointly charged with Stefan Halenko, managing director of Bellit Security and Blackburn Alarms, companies which are based in a Dylan Harvey Business Centre in Blackburn. A spokeswoman for Lancashire Police said the charges related to the presentation of false alarm activation records following a reported burglary at Whittaker's home in Burnley. Both men have been bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court.

Mann Island Wonder on the Waterfront.

The real wonder is how they ever got away with building three black coffins at Mann Island.
This is a full page advert in the local paper, I thought they said they had sold them all...it was reported as such.
You will note that the White Coffin, the all new Wacky Warehouse-on-Sea...The Museum of Liverpool, is not shown in the picture.
That is because Dr Fuzzy Felt at NML has banned them from using the image connected with the black slugs. They are desperately trying to distance themselves from the Mann Island development, even though its all the same North "Vested Interest" Development Agency funding package. Loyd Grossperson threatened legal action if they were associated together just before Fleming had him sacked for reporting him to the DCMS. That's what was in the Sunday Times anyhow. To think the English Heretics let them get away with this.

Is this just my opinion? Well here is another.

The North "Vested Interest" Development Agency.

Or in short "Systers Are Us".
How many dodgy deals have these grey suited flanneurs at the NWDA got away with.
Even right in front of the noses of the world on a world heritage site, the corrupted system that was and is Liverpool's regeneration is made a mockery of.
Considering that Mike Storey was on the board that is hardly surprising.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/09/city-has-been-run-by-spivs-and-gamblers.html

Joe Anderson,  http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/04/mann-island-is-penny-finally-dropping.html let it all happen while the Labour party used it as a foil for their election campaign.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/11/joe-anderson-spiving-for-peel-holdings.html
Yet they rush headlong into bed with Peel Holdings whose ex chief executive a Mr Hough then became the Chairman of the NWDA. Louise Ellman with links the North Vested Interest Development agency and the GONW did nothing.
It stinks to high tide how they got away with this and now, "The Prisoner" David Bartlett at Port Merrion on the Mersey throws some light on the subject for the Daily Ghost. Claiming its all, now alright, the taxpayer will, well it says could benefit, and a Daily Ghost could,  means stuff all.  http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2011/01/14/taxpayers-could-recoup-liverpool-waterfront-mann-island-millions-92534-27983521/

Yes the picture tells a story alright but the real headline is that the public were shafted by a bunch of shysters, and in doing so we lost the best views and most historic setting in the city to a trio of black coffins and a anachronis,m masquerading as a museum.
He forgot it was all the same deal that brought the whole destruction of the Pier Head into being, and was put together by the NWDA.
One funds the other, oh and lets throw in a canal that cuts the Pier Head in two, it needs it. Who were these goofs.
 http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/07/mann-island-funds-new-museum-its-fact.html

Hey good journalism David, made worse by the fact that Larry "the lamb" Neild whose position as city editor Bartlett took over at the Smoking Mirror Group went on to work for October Communications under the leadership of Jon Egan who im my opinion would sell his mother for a fee. Egan also led the disgraced Wirral MPs election campaign. October were retained by the NWDA and Neptune Developments and Liverpool Vision.
Someone needs to do an investigation into the way Trinity "Smoking Mirror" Group operate in the city.
The, no surprise is, this was probably fed to Bartlett by little Larry a small man of small stature who sold himself to the highest bidder when the going got tough. He was reporting our objections at the planning committee meeting but then fell in with Doreen Jones. I will never trust anyone at that paper again.

http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/08/mann-island-dylan-harvey-director_18.html
What was the outcome when the developers director was bailed on fraud charges.
The conclusion is that it is hushed up by the local chip-paper, was this as a friendly gesture to old mates. We can ponder just like what they did with the vrascist comment by David Fleming.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/12/david-bartlett-come-in-number-six-your.html

http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/06/wayne-colquhoun-asks-will-alsop.html Will Alsop got it right even though his cloud scheme was just as bad.

Bartletts confusing report, that attempts to put it over as a good will story finishes:

A spokesman for the NWDA said: “The NWDA is pleased that the independent PwC report into the sale of Mann Island finds that we acted properly in what is a complex site with a long and rich history.
“The NWDA is delighted with progress on the site and is proud to have led the development of this high quality, prestigious location, enhancing the beautiful and unrivalled Liverpool waterfront and creating a lasting legacy project for the city’s residents businesses and visitors.”

It should have said.
Jon Egan, I am yours, October Communications here I come, when do I start.

Mann Island Developers Illegally Use The UNESCO Logo.

Mann Island Developers really do take the biscuit here. They destroy the world heritage site, turning it into blight and then make out as if it is all supported by Unesco. It is illegal to use a logo of a United Nations organisation without permission. This tacky advert with the WHS ringed, only serving to show how much they have got away with was in the Sunday Times last week. I have today written to Unesco complaining of the fact that the development "appears" to be supported by them. If anyone wants to join in writing to Unesco, please feel free.

Dear Sir,
This is a picture of an advert that has appeared in the Sunday Times advertising the Mann Island world heritage site.
Would you please advise me, on the the use of the Unesco logo.
1. Are the developers entitled to use the Unesco logo to make it appear that Unesco sanction the development.

RIBA To Send Its Drawings Collection to Liverpool.

More pathetic LIVERPOOL Daily Post reporting. This time from the council lap-dog Mark Wadding"Padding"ton.
The spoon feeding of the public is culpable. This time its more uneducated garbage from a local paper trying, but failing miserably to understand the scope of the disaster they have lauded on behalf of the council and the North "Vested Interest" Development Agency. Burying their heads in the sand.
Unable to see or comprehend World Heritage Disaster that is partly their fault for spinning everything.

The article may be well meaning, but is so full of "ifs and maybes" it should never have been allowed to go to print.
We have heard all this garbage before, they even roll out the Merseyside Civic Society calling it the historic Merseyside Civic Society. God 'elp us.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/09/whatever-happened-to-merseyside-civic.html
I call them heritage collaborators, responsible for turning a blind eye on purpose.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/04/merseyside-civic-society-heritage.html
It is said the RIBA collection "could" be placed in a new premises located on the waterfront, close to the Albert Dock. The Daily Ghost shows a 15 year old picture of the Albert Dock before it was turned into World Heritage S*ite.
  http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/08/liverpool-wins-carbuncle-cup.html

http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/06/mann-island-damage-has-been-well-and.html

Read the previous RIBA have a rep who is no more than a vandal disfiguring the WHS, and being allowed to.
http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2010/11/08/royal-institute-for-british-architects-may-have-northern-headquarters-in-liverpool-say-council-92534-27618566/
Jonothan  Brown comments, he will try hard, but it may be that he likes the sound of his own name in the papers and is the only one who is running around as part of an aimless, and bleedin' hopeless, bunch of heritage no-marks who have stood by and watched while the waterfront has been decimated by bad design. Now they want to bring a load of architects here to see the damage. http://www.sevenstreets.com/city-living/feature-city-living/total-eclipse-of-the-heart-mann-island/
Now forgive me for being cynical, but could it be "proposed" for one of the Black Coffins on Mann Island as the Open Eye Gallery look as if they wont be joining the world heritage disaster party.
Has Matt Brooks been trying to pull a few strings.
http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/ldpbusiness/business-local/2009/07/02/architect-s-riba-role-to-promote-design-excellence-92534-24053919/

It was said Mr Brook, who opened Broadway Malyan’s Liverpool office in 2007, will serve as a North West representative on the Royal Institute of British Architects’ National Council.

It even takes the Daily Ghost opinion. The very same opinion that said Alsops Glass Pie in the sky was to be brilliant for Liverpool.
The well meaning idiot who wrote the Comment and Analysis in the Daily Ghost says Every effort must be made to convince RIBA that Liverpool is not only a spiritual home for architectural excellence, but a practical, vibrant and cost effective base. After all Liverpool's historic waterfront can offer what every desirable building requires-location, location, location.
AND THEN LOOK AT THE PICTURE OF WHAT THEY HAVE DONE.
And a bunch of brainless numb skulls who report on any bit of council rubbish, with a positive spin, who are oblivious to architecture, and have allowed the waterfront to be carbuncled while Blind Bill Gleeson tells us all how good it all is.
With Mark Thomas, the Daily Ghost editors favourite building the 2009 Carbuncle cup winning Terminal Ferry Building, it really is the blind leading the dumb and blind.

The reality is we are yet to be a laughing stock for the mess created on Liverpool's Waterfront and The local press just put a blind face on it all.
If we all turn a blind eye maybe the architectural profession wont notice Mark.
