John Hinchliffe and a £6,000 Freebie.

A free trip to Shanghai that you helped pay for so you should know about it.
That cost Six Grand.
What for? Why did he have to go?
Was it to persuade any investors in Liverpool Waters, they could do whatever they want while he's there.
He even bragged about it. "Not bad for a freebie" he said.
Flown out all expenses paid for to have meetings with Peel Holdings to the Shanghai Expo 2010.......who have been told by Unesco that if their plans for Shanghai-on-Mersey where to go ahead it will effect the Outstanding Universal Value of the World Heritage Site.
This is what Unesco actually said that the current plans for Liverpool Waters goes directly in conflict against the SPD. What does Hinchiffe do?

118. Liverpool – Maritime Mercantile City (United Kingdom) (C 1150)
Decision: 35 COM 7B.118

The World Heritage Committee,
1. Having examined Document WHC-11/35.COM/7B.Add,
2. Expresses its extreme concern at the proposed development of Liverpool Waters in terms of the potential impact of its dense, high and mid-rise buildings on the form and design of the historic docks and thus on the Outstanding Universal Value of the property;
3. Notes that the independent Impact Assessment commissioned by English Heritage clearly sets out the significantly damaging negative impact on the Outstanding Universal Value of the property;
Decisions report WHC-11/35.COM/20, p. 150
4. Also notes that the proposed development is not in compliance with the property
Management Plan nor with the Liverpool Urban Development Plan;
5. Urges the State Party to ensure that these proposals are not approved, as failure to do so could lead to consideration of loss of the Outstanding Universal Value of the property;
6. Requests the State Party to invite a joint World Heritage Centre/ICOMOS reactive monitoring mission, as soon as possible, to assess planning procedures and the overall development strategies for the property;
7. Also requests the State Party to submit to the World Heritage Centre, by 1 February 2012, an updated report on the state of conservation of the property and on the implementation of the above, examination by the World Heritage Committee at its 36th session in 2012.

So what do we pay him for, because he has done nothing to protect world heritage principles or, as Unesco, expressly requested, put an education programme together to inform the public and developers as to principles of World Heritage, to uphold its protection.

He is now worried after Nigel Lee the planning officer has been forced out. (Liverpool does not have a Chief Planning Officer). So who is upholding the Supplementary Planning Document that is to protect the WHS.
So lets break it down here is the SPD, its a long read but Unesco will do the work, I am sure. http://liverpool.gov.uk/Images/SPDWorldHeritageSite.pdf
Anyone commenting on Liverpools WHS needs to read this and that includes the local press.

Hinchliffe the double dealing waste of space that is supposed to be employed to protect World Heritage not roll over like a fluffy poodle, and have his belly tickled by any Spiv or Speculator that wants to build anything in the World Heritage Site.
He should be very worried about his job because if Unesco go against him this time he wont be able to afford a collection of Della Robbia ceramics that he aspires to, because we will be calling for the hopeless waste of space's sacking and he may be lucky to keep his job.

Wellington Rooms-Call This Regeneration.

The Wellington Rooms-Liverpools Disgrace.

They at the City Council talk of Regeneration and even have a Regeneration Officer appointedbyJo Anderson called Malcolm Kennedy, who it appears, to my mind, is so wrapped up with Peel Holdings that he cant see the true nature of our citys historic past.

What is the point in letting this historic building rot.
Here is a picture taken in 1989 by Jeremy Hawthorn, I hope he won't mind me using it.
I am revisiting a plea I made years ago.
click on the pic as a demonstration to save the buildng was unfurled all over it
It was on a calender that was published by The Nerve a local magazine that does its best to highlight some of the rubbish put out by council spin doctors. http://www.catalystmedia.org.uk/
How can this building be left to rot after a billion pounds of European objective one funding has been swagged to the cronies who have contacts in the North "Vested Interest" Development Agency.

http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/06/joe-anderson-to-save-liverpools.html  What will Joe Anderson the Tory Cuts Reaper do.
Here is Correspondents take on the situation.
http://condensedthoughts.blogspot.com/2011/01/joe-anderson-implements-tory-cuts.html

The Wellington Rooms in Mount Pleasant were once described as a ‘house of mirth and revelry’. They were erected after funds were raised by public subscription in 1815.
An Adaptation of the Choragic Monument of Lysicrates of Athens, which was illustrated in the influential publication by Stuart and Revelt Antiquities of Athens.
It had a porch on one side for the setting down of sedan chairs.
The Portico was originally open but was found to be draughty and a disfigurement to the original design was made with the blocking up.
A ballroom of some 80ft by 40ft it had a card room and a supper room.
It was thought to have been frequented by the upper classes, as subscription balls, assemblies and occasional fancy dress balls.
How that description conjures up the most remarkable images of Georgian Liverpool. A Maritime City at the nucleus of its upward growth taking it to the city of its height in the early 20th century.
I grew up with it being known as The Irish Centre in the 70s and 80s, and ignorant of these facts relating the building back to the Battle of Waterloo and Napoleons defeat by the then axis powers under the leadership of the Duke of Wellington.

It was 2008 that I highlighted its plight in a walkabout with Peter Elson. And this Georgian gem still rots.
http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-life-features/liverpool-special-features/2008/01/29/living-on-the-eve-of-destruction-64375-20405391/  This was for the Daily Ghost.
The deterioration seems to have been helped by the lead on the roof going missing. What state inside to the plasterwork?
There were ghastly plans to develop it by sticking a rubic cube sort of extension on the back, this was done by a consortium of Flanagans, the local builders.
Did one of the Flans go to Shanghai as a guest of one of the senior, very senior members of the council.
The plans looked more like a sketch on the back of a jerry-builders ciggy packet than a professionals work . http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/tm_method=full&objectid=20615285&siteid=50061-name_page.html

On the English Heretic at risk register for as long as I can remember. Henry Owen John http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-life-features/liverpool-special-features/2008/03/22/the-changing-face-of-liverpool-64375-20658839/  the area director should be ashamed of himself as should the joker who was the Historic Buildings advisor Peter De Figeurido who let it rot while sucking up to the developers of Mann Island, who it is alleged is now working for Peel Holdings.
Click the link above to see him and the Reichmarshal Nigel Lee making excuses after my article sent waves out about the neglect. Waffling on about the joke about Liver Building Controversy.
While today the Royal Liver is to leave its spiritual home. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news//tm_headline=jobs-axed-as-royal-liver-head-office-in-liverpool-to-close%26method=full%26objectid=29196403%26siteid=100252-name_page.html With the loss of 110 jobs. Now there is contoversy.

http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/upload/pdf/190609north_west_2009_har_register.pdf
And what of Chris Griffiths and Steve Corbett of the useless Liverpool Conservation office.
Next to it and with objective one funding an extension was built on the Gibbard Cathedral, that Oscar Niemeyer rip off, Paddys Wigwam while this wonderful little Georgian gem lies there, rotting, a forlorn looking Mausoleum to Liverpools Regeneration Con.

A disgrace. The Council Have Powers to Save This Historic Gem.

Lewis's Its Our Story; Liverpools Own-BBC Take An Interest

Radio 4 did a programme, aired this this Monday http://www.bbc.co.uk/i/b010m2f4/
Roll out all the usual John Belcham suspects, to turn a blind eye to it all and make a living talking about the disasters after they have occurred, whilst doing nothing about it at the time. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/10/liverpools-world-heritage-steering.html

Lewis's lost its way in the 60's really and never recovered through the 70's by which time it had a ugly tiled mural which now seems to be the centre of attention to the sentimentalists.
 http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/02/lewiss-is-to-close-300-jobs-to-go.html
It does touch on the fact that Grosvenor-pool The Duke of Westministers fiefdom has seen it off for good.
Merepark the developers swing into a PR oportunity but it will never be the same again, it will soon be carbuncled. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/02/now-lyceum-of-bold-street-is-to-gets.html
People talk in the programme about the epicentre being moved and claim Liverpool is the same as any where else now.
Windsor Developments and their dodgy facilitator Trevor Jones was all over this area like a rash.
Is it time to move on now.......not for the people who were done out of their redundancy by the rat who owned the store up until it closed who had to have a body guard to visit the last time.

English Heritage did list it knowing about Merepark's plans several years ago.
It survived the Blitz but not the Riechmarshal Nigel Lee our Chief Planning Disaster and his dodgy Liverpool planning Junta.

George Osbourne Budget-The Con Dems To Relax Liverpools Planning Laws!!!!

I find it hard to believe that Liverpool's planning laws could be relaxed anymore than they are already.
Now Osborne says he will relax planning laws in the Budget. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/budget-2011
The Liverpool Planning Manager Nigel Lee, who has done more damage to Liverpool's Architectural prowess than Hermann Goering and the Luftwaffe during the blitz, has had three primary functions for over a decade.

TO MAKE IT WORSE.
The journalists at the Daily Ghost say the Pier Head has won award.
http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2011/03/21/liverpool-s-pier-head-and-canal-link-scheme-among-the-winners-at-civic-trust-architecture-awards-92534-28371777/
LIVERPOOL’S revamped Pier Head and canal link scooped its 17th award in just two years.

They were among city projects dominating a prestigious architecture contest last week.

The £28m project to create a new canal link and transform the Pier Head picked up one of 24 commendation awards at the Civic Trust Awards, in Manchester.
Judges said: “The works represent best practice in accommodating growth and investment in a dynamic, living World Heritage Site city.”
Projects by Liverpool’s universities also played a starring role.
The University of Liverpool’s heating infrastructure project, designed by architects Levitt Bernstein Associates, picked up one of 27 awards.
The contemporary energy centre, which sits in a group of 19th-century listed buildings in Dover Street, was praised for “reflecting the past in a modern solution”.
Judges described it as “a brave, imaginative brief [which] has created a unique and modern design with architectural qualities commensurate with its neighbours”. Council planners worked closely with the architects to refine the design.

Liverpool Hope University’s Angel Field, in Everton, and John Moores University’s art and design academy were also praised.
Cllr Malcolm Kennedy, Liverpool council’s cabinet member for regeneration, said: “Our four award winners are all fantastic examples of how good design and planning can help deliver world-class, contemporary projects, which breathe new life into our city while complementing our existing architecture.”
Council regeneration director Nick Kavanagh added: “Liverpool’s overall success at the Civic Trust Awards shows we continue to be a leading city of architectural excellence.”

http://www.civictrustawards.org.uk/winners/2011/CTA006633/

Information about this winner. There is a slideshow on the link.

The works are to be applauded for their extent and quality which further enhance the setting including the grade I listed Liver Building, and grade II* Cunard and Port of Liverpool Buildings. The scheme provides a flexible, usable public space that responds well and is enjoyed by many. The City Council and its partners have delivered a programme of major investment over some 10 years to regenerate the city and the works represent best practice in accommodating growth and investment in a dynamic, living World Heritage Site city.

REALLY THERE IS NO FUTURE WHEN PEOPLE WHO ARE BLIND TO OUR ARCHITECTURAL LEGACY ARE APPLAUDING THE DECIMATION OF A UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE.

Liverpool's "Dodgy Planners" and Beetham Tower.

How can the Liverpool City Council pass plans for a massive tower block in the world heritage buffer zone, on land, that the Land Registry wouldn't allow the flats contained therein in to be registered, because there is a flying freehold that should never have been considered suitable for building a tower on in the first place.
How come the city council allowed the developer Beetham to build over a highway.

Right from the onset of Liverpool's new found wealth, well, the ponsi scheme created by the council and its Liverpool Vision cling-ons funded by the North "Vested Interest" Development Agency, Mike Storey, now Lord Storey, was there giving our land away. Beetham Plaza which was Wilberforce House, was gifted to Beetham.
This plot was originally sold to Betham as a area for landscaping for their original boring tower.
The Fib-Dems even scrapped the City Councils Tall Building Policy to accommodate them and Grosvenor. I GAVE A COMMENT TO THE DAILY POST ON HOW OUTRAGOUS IT WAS THAT MIKE STOREY AND WARREN BRADLEY COULD DECIDE THIS.
What about the WHS buffer zone.

So given the garden adjacent his first erection, for a peppercorn, what does Hugh Frost, a client of mine who seemed, like a gentleman when he came in my shop, do.
Bungs in a planning application for a 37 storey tower on a plot the size of a postage stamp and Liverpool's Dodgy Planners say, Yes that will do nicely.
Now I am not saying there is any corruption going on, or has gone on, well not in public anyway, but it just goes to show the complete lack of stringency that should, have been adhered to, that seems to have been relaxed to accommodate a developer in this case.

Is there corruption in the City Council and its planning department?
That is a question I was asked three times this week.
I refused to answer while I am building up a file, that is in depth, you see unless you keep your eye on the ball what goes past you with the slight of hand of a magician is bewildering.

And Beetham must have thought they had pulled a rabbit out of the hat when the, apparent, oversight of being given some land for, it was reported £163,000 turned int the price someone would pay for a broom cupboard in the flats. They even said Micheal Owen had taken a penthouse.well Larry Neild said so as city editor, creating this illusion of respectability and desire around it. It was later raided by the drug squad.

Charles Hubbard the vice chair at the time of the Merseyside Civic Society, whose son worked for Beetham handled the negotiations to save two listed cottaged in the shadow and on the grounds of the then proposed tower.........clever.
If there has ever been a waste of space, its the MCS.

If I recall Doreen Jones Liverpool's own Dame of Architectural Disaster, and her brief (for decades) Rex Makin walked out of a St Georges Hall Trustees meeting because Beetham had given £200,000 to the fund to restore the hall........how strange.

Then it all went wrong for Hughie and (estranged) Son.
Faced with not being able to register the properties he couldn't sell them on and his assetts sat losing money, because Beethams gearing at the bank was stacked the wrong side.
Now put the tower has now gone into administration and we the public are owed £750,000 by Beetham or one of its offsetts.

Last week it was reported that;

LIVERPOOL council officials are set for urgent talks with the administrators of the city’s West Tower over £750,000 it was due to be paid for “fresh air”.
In 2008 Mapfield Properties agreed to buy a patch of land and airspace beneath the 40-storey tower from the council.
Mapfield had been unable to sell luxury apartments in the skyscraper after the Land Registry refused to register potential sales because part of the building overhangs 36 square meter of public highway.
Mapfield – part of the wider Beetham family of companies – decided to buy the land in Brook Street to resolve the issue.
But the deal was never completed and the council has not received any money.
Now Mapfield has gone into administration the council faces a new round of negotiations with administrators Grant Thornton.
A council spokesman said: “We haven’t received the money from Mapfield.
“We have been negotiating with them. We were attempting to get a deal. But Mapfield has gone into administration.
“We are meeting the administrators early this week.”
Beetham originally bought the land on which the West Tower stands for just £163,000 in 2003 from Liverpool City Council. The deal led to an outcry over whether the council had got the best price for the land.

I had predicted this would happen some time ago. Trying for towers and generally building them as in Manchester with its massive Walkie Talkie whistling tower..I......ts behind you.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/03/bye-bye-beetham.html
Southwark council the subject of a Beetham planning application issued a statement  in March 2009.
It said;"At Southwark Council, we give a great deal of thought to the benefits very tall buildings actually bring to their local area. As a council with a large landholding, we understand the advantages of tall buildings in the right communities, but we will not allow something that gives Carte blanche to developers to build very tall buildings where they are not appropriate."

Then it seemed they had got out of the mess.

I wrote over a year ago about a strange comment Nigel Lee Liverpools Chief Planning disaster made, just how well did they know each other and why were they allowed to get away with this.

At a recent Architects Journal sponsored conference at Liverpools Crown Plaza hotel chaired by the obnoxious Paul Finch who was the editor of the Architectural Review and has far too much say for such a bad mouth attitude.
Nigel Lee Liverpool's modern day answer to the Luftwaffe speaking during a power-point presentation showing the mess his troops have deployed said and I quote
"Beetham have the biggest tower in Liverpool at 37 storeys high they also have a massive tower in Manchester and are planning one in London...the guys got a problem with erections, and all this because he has a little willy"
Not sure how he knows but this was in front of a packed room full of £435 fee paying delegates from all over the country.
I looked round as the room cringed. Can he really get away with this.

What about Liverpool Vision, or lack of its, roll in all this that Joe Anderson was on the board of at the time.
Oh and all this happened right next to the Daily Post and Echos headquarters....didn't anyone there look out the window.

AND SHOULDNT THERE BE A FULL INVESTIGATION INTO THIS TAWDRY AFFAIR.

6 Sir Thomas Street-Every Right To Feel Hacked Off.

Yes this was the sight that greeted Warren Bradley from his office overlooking the building.
"I wondered what all the noise was" he said to Larry Neild, then working for the Daily Ghost, as the shysters, Iliad hacked off the front of the facade, of a perfectly good building, with a Liver bird crested portico.
While it was being considered for listing by the English Heretics.
They needed to line the floors up from the old Municipal Buildings frontage on Dale Street World Heritage Site.  That had been sold to Iliad by the very same council that is charged with protecting our assets. The then Liverpool Spiv-Dem council and its cronies, what a joke, couldn't they have made two stairs to line up the floor heights. Couldn't Nigel Lee have advised Iliad in one of his frequent meetings with them that they cant mess with our heritage. He told me he asked Micheal Hanlon of Maghull Developments not to hack off Josephine Butler House, that is his involvement with developers, or should we say hackers.
Couldn't Steve Corbett from the Liverpool Conservation Office(sic) have stopped them.  No this is Liverpool we destroy our Victorian facades, one of the last remaining full and complete Victorian Streets in the city.
Doreen Jones, who did more damage than anyone in this city passed the plans in an Orchestrated planning committee Manoeuvre, while Steve Hurst the criminal tried to question me for trying to save it.
That man had a cheek alright.
While the Labour councillors on the planning committee also give it the thumbs up.

Bernie Turner, whatever happened to her, she is now sidelined, well she always was on heritage matters. Watching while it all went on around her, while she was supposed to be English Heritage Historic Environment Champion. A title she inherited from Lady Doreen Jones.
So all is well that ends well, I suppose.

Look what they have put in its place, a disgrace.

Liverpool World Heritage Steering Group-What Is Its Motives?

Page 2 of minutes of a meeting of The World Heritage Steering Group. These documents are not ever supposed to see the light of day so it is with a free abandon that they they write "It was agreed that JL (John Hinchliffe, the world heritage waste of space who should be protecting the WH not selling it) and NL (Nigel Lee) should discuss with Mike Birchnall, the most appropriate way to secure a member buy in and a political champion. It was agreed that Louise Ellman should be kept informed and be part of a political steering group".

You know you  have to despair the way they are whoring the WHS to what seems the highest bidder. What exactly does a "member buy in" mean. They also talk of discussing the WHS at a political level as at officer level it could restrict frank discussions.

Yes we all know what that means don't we.
With this level of errr...discussions about our, WHS going on while the public are not even told where the WHS is, well I suppose they can do what they want.
This combined with the disastrous set of shoddy principles practiced by the local press, who turn a blind eye to anything that suits them, it seems they are lining up another developers wish list.

Save Stanley Park-Get Hicks and Gillett Out, Now.

Grade II listed Stanley Park has been bandied about as sweeteners for any new owners of Liverpool football club.
Liverpool football club have been assisting the decline of this part of Anfield for decades as long as I can remember by buying up all the adjoining roads.
Hicks and Gillet who stand to lose £146,000,000 if the current deal to wrestle control away from them is successful were sweetened with the gift of Stanley Park by the Spiv-Dem councillors Mike Storey and Warren "War Zones" Bradley.
Remember how they tried to give Kings Dock to Everton F.C, whose move to Kirkby looks a bit fragile. Nigel Lee, Liverpools Chief Planning Disaster, an Evertonion, said publicly that Goodison should be listed.

 http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/07/stanleypark-re-opens-with-party.html
There has been some good work done the Isla Gladstone Conservatory in Stanley Park was restored and opened with a bang and looked like it was ready to be a corporate hospitality suite for the prawn sandwich brigade if Stanley Park was stolen from the people it belonged to. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/07/henry-owen-john-same-old-english.html

I grew up a mile from the ground, I used to mind the cars in my street on a match day. It was my first job I took it seriously. I stood on the Anfield terraces as soon as I learnt how to kick a ball in the cobbled streets of Anfield. Tony Hately, Tommy Lawrence I could tell you the 66 team even now without a hesitation. I was there when Shankly walked around the pitch in his famous red shirt when we won the league.
While minding cars, my job, I could hear the Terrace cheers and I could tell you the score, sometimes it was a little confusing, the cheers between a goal and when the meat pies arrives but I gradually got used to them. I grew up with Liverpool F.C.
Liverpool is in my heart.
Liverpool as a city, well the red side, minus the cheeky Evertonian monkeys, http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/11/cheeky-evertonian-monkeys.html  needs Liverpool F.C to be successful.

Get these con-man Yanks out.

At the same time lets try and stop this Stanley Park land grab and redevelop Anfield.
We need green space as much as football stadia.

http://condensedthoughts.blogspot.com/2010/10/message-to-tom-george.html

Once bitten twice shy, as they say. That being the case, the caution & scepticism with which Liverpool supporters greeted this morning's news of the club's sale (http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/oct/06/liverpool-sold-new-england-sports-ventures ) are entirely justified. Hicks & Gillett's objections to the sale only serve to cement their truly toxic legacy at the club; Tom Hicks has pulled off a significant achievement, he's managed to make himself more reviled than Kelvin MacKenzie in the eyes of most supporters.

While it's appropriate to bid good riddance to the two liars, it's also necessary to remember the role played by the club's former chairman David Moores in facilitating their arrival. It certainly hasn't escaped the attention of the Guardian's Richard Williams (http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2010/oct/06/liverpool-david-moores-sale ):

"The real malaise inside Anfield, however, is off the pitch, and goes back at least to the moment at which David Moores, the former chairman, decided to cash in his shares and walk away with £89m, having sold the club to a couple of American gamblers whose promises turned out to be highly misleading, although it was certainly bad luck for Hicks and Gillett that their acquisition was followed so closely by a worldwide recession."

The liars' "bad luck" may well be viewed by supporters as a dose of schadenfreude to savour.

Throughout their ruinous reign Moores has attempted (often with the tacit endorsement of Oldham Hall Street) to portray himself as just another innocent fan duped by a couple of snake-oil salesmen. Bullshit. Moores pocketed his millions, refusing to even engage with the Spirit of Shankly group when it became clear that the club was in the wrong hands.

Moores is an accomplice to the liars' mismanagement.

Arthur Dooley-Remember Him.

The highlight of 2008 in Liverpool, as European Capital of Culture, for me was not a pseudo Klimt expo or a giant spider, but an exhibition staged in the Liverpool Academy. This did not advertise Vienna; it bowed its head with a retrospective of one of Liverpool’s characters, by people who knew him. Someone who dripped passion, a self taught man, who proclaimed himself as an Irish Liverpudlian and was proud of his tough working class background. He made the sculpture Four Lads Who Shook The World in Mathew Street. He was, Arthur Dooley, and how I admire him.

I had sold several pieces of his work and I thought some of it was bad. But one was an amazing bronze Bull on a marble base AD75, that I never was able to part with. Sometimes it’s not about money. This was a journey into the thinking mans mind. An antagonist who took on the establishment and proved he was cleverer than them. For which he was revered, and shunned.

Born in Liverpool in 1929, Dooley worked as a welder on the Ark Royal.

He was working, tirelessly, around Liverpool, right up until his death in 1994. He was a boxer and once came to blows in the Everyman with Arthur Ballard an art teacher who had taught Stewart Sutcliffe.

He created numerous religious figures in polished bronze using unorthodox techniques and unusual interpretations. The Black Christ on Princes Avenue being one, that went down like a lead balloon.

He buttonholed Hesseltine after the Toxteth Riots and pleaded with him “Don’t let them knock down the Albert Dock”.

His first sculpture was made in an army prison in Egypt where he served a sentence for going AWOL. Conflicting reports, one saying he tried to join the PLO.

Upon his unceremonious return from the army, he joined a drawing class at the Whitechapel gallery in London.

He was then employed as a janitor. His job included clearing up after the sculptors and setting up materials, then he began to make his own work...using scraps of metal left over.

His lead cast piece of a crucified Jesus received a good response around the college. From these humble beginnings, in 1962 he exhibited at St Martins Gallery, a stones throw from the college where he had worked. Cast a bronze bull for London weekend’s south bank building. He met the great art critic Greenberg and made several appearances on the "Tonight" programme. I saw an interview he made with Bill Shankly. He dubbed the new Cathedral Paddy’s Wigwam. He was featured on This is Your Life.

When Henry Moore, overworked turned down the Stations of the Cross at the Benedictine Community of Ampleforth Monastery Dooley took up the commission.
Later he would say the shipyard was really my art school.

Deeply concerned about social problems of his day. He was a member of the communist party. He was always an outspoken and immensely religious letting the materials he worked with speak.

His workshop in Seel Street is intact. It needs preserving.

Arthur Called this sculpture THE TOWN PLANNER and I have to say it has a resemblence to the current planning officer the Riechmarshal Nigel Lee, who has done more damage than the Luftwaffe.

His studio almost intact at 34-36 Seel Street he was a active member of the Liverpool Academy. He campaigned to have the right for Liverpool artists to show their wares outside the Bluecoat. He is slowly being recognised as an important man active in town planning not afraid to have his say.

   Remember Him.

John Kelly-Liverpool's Regeneration Chief Leaves, But Its 10 Years Too Late.

LIVERPOOL'S head of regeneration will become the latest senior figure to leave the local authority.

John Kelly, executive director of regeneration, was last night in the process of hammering out the terms of his departure.

Mike Burchnall, head of planning, will follow them at the end of this month, and community services executive director Cath Green will leave next month.

Seven other un-named senior managers have also be granted redundancy.
When Mr Kelly's departure is confirmed, education chief Stuart Smith and city solicitor Paul Evans will be the only surviving senior managers since Labour took control of the council in May. Chief executive Colin Hilton announced his retirement just days after the Lib-Dems lost control. Joe Anderson is having a right old clear-out.
Mr Kelly was responsible for the council's number one priority area – growing the city's economy.
He has also overseen planning and development, transport and traffic, tourism, culture, and major regeneration projects. On the council's website, Mr Kelly, a married father-of-one, enthuses about working at the council.

He is quoted saying: "I've got a job which is staggeringly exciting in a great city with some really bright and passionate colleagues. I'm determined to do my best."

This is good news for Liverpool, unfortunatly for Liverpools Historic Environment and its World Heritage Waterfront is 10 years too late. Now can we have Nigel Lee, the Chief Planning Officer, out please.

Frank McKenna Suckles At The Breast of Joe Anderson.

What a cosy relationship this has started out, to be, as Joe Anderson speaking at a Downtown Liverpool in Business Event apears to give the green light to anyone who wants to build any old glass shoebox. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/06/dlib-in-skip.html  Stating how easy it would be for its members to obtain access to a planning manager, within a week in fact.
Is Joe Anderson just a chubby version of Warren Bradley. And are the same mistakes about to be made. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/06/david-wade-smith-not-right-choice-as.html  In fact Joe Anderson has stood by idly and watched while the world heritage site was destroyed even taking an active part in it as a committee member on Liverpool Vision and numerous other quangos.
I am reliably informed that Nigel Lee is all over him like a rash, phoning him up and getting him on his side.
It looks like this is working. Despite mistakes for rushing development Uncle Joe says at the new Hilton Hotel on Chavasse Lawn. “This council is dogged by processes.”

He said businesses should expect to see a planning officer within one week of a pre-planning application, rather than six or seven weeks, and cited an example of an unnamed company bringing 120 jobs to the city as a result of streamlining. He said a sort of “star chamber” would be set up to oversee council expenditure, which was already £9m over budget in the first three months of the financial year.

http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2010/06/22/liverpool-city-council-leader-joe-anderson-reassures-business-leaders-92534-26697224/

Yes Uncle Joe the public should expect proper scrutiny not a corrupted system stacked in favour of any old shady developer.
Joe Anderson it has been said make Warren Bradley look like a scholar and I have to say here he shows how easy it is to manipulate him.
I am aware of massive donations by local businessmen to the labour party before the election. Frank is of course a old hand at manipulation and was to be seen in the background in Skelmersdale when Gordon Brown visited. Because Downtown, are editing the Trinity “Smoking” Mirror group http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/03/frank-mckenna-unofficial-editor-of.html  all this will not be told. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/11/is-frank-mckenna-really-editing.html I wrote to Uncle Joe requesting he considers the need for a heritage bureau that Warren Bradley insisted was not necessary. He said he would consider it.
But now it seems that it is more than obvious where his loyalties lie.
To those who are able to make him understand the need to ravish what we have left of the historic fabric without compromise while in his friend and Ally, Louise Ellman, the Dame of Derelictions constituency http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/10/liverpools-baltic-triangle-more-than.html  is still in parts like a war zone 30 years after the riots.
Joe Anderson after all was the councillor here in the centre and kept his gob shut when world heritage disaster unfolded itself. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/06/liverpools-world-heritage-site-memory.html

Meanwhile
NINE Liverpool day centres are to close as part of the biggest shake-up in social services the city has seen in the past 60 years. http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2010/06/22/nine-liverpool-day-centres-to-close-in-social-care-revolution-92534-26697620/

Well done Uncle Joe.
New Labour.

The Merseyside Civic Society-Heritage Collaborators.

The LPT was formed by Professor Quentin Hughes and myself after long deep conversations into the impending gloom that was to befall the WHS. Quentin who wrote Seaport and LIVERPOOL City of Architecture was more than qualified to meet with the UNESCO officials on their visit to decide whether to award World Heritage Site Status to Liverpool in 2004. He had asked me, as their Chairman to join the Merseyside Civic Society but I had refused. I was asked to give a talk to the MCS council in February 06 after kicking up a fuss about the then proposed museum in the local and national press. Even the Times were writing about it. And more was to come. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/07/mann-island-funds-new-museum-its-fact.html  The lottery funding would be refused for the interior fit –out, (which they have now spent) because as all there was to look at for the fit out was some sketches on the back of a ciggy packet.

http://www.liv.ac.uk/mcs/mcshom.html  I did my talk in the offices of Edmund Kirkby here in India Buildings who gave the offices for free. Edmund Kirkby are surveyors with lots of clients and conflicts of interests in the city but I presume it was with good intentions that they laid on the tea and coffee. It was a good turn out I was told, 15 or 20 of them. I thought to myself there was a definite pull in the room as I tried to persuade them that the museum disaster was funded by the then proposed Three Grotesques at Mann Island. http://www.bbc.co.uk/liverpool/content/articles/2006/03/14/capcult_regen_mann_island_feature.shtml  Quentin had not long passed away and the current Chairman was and still is Dr Peter Brown was even arguing against me. http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-life-features/liverpool-special-features/2009/06/24/jury-still-out-on-mann-island-blocks-92534-23960446/  He would later show his true colours. One of the members was an archaeologist working for the museums http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/11/loyd-grossman-lectures-us-on-heritage.html  who would go on later to do the dig on Manchester Docks.
There was a trustee of NML present if I am not mistaken was the Earl of Derby, and the vice chair of MCS was also the chairman of the Friends of Liverpool Museums. Andrew Pearce http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/11/museum-of-liverpool-sad-rip-off-of.html  was a worry constantly going on about the museum arranging wine and cheese presentations on it, promoting it. He was commended by David “Fuzzy Felt” Fleming in a yearly review. He and the friends were later binned by him as being an extremists. With a few stalwarts in the room such as Pat Moran who is always honest if not a little loud and Tony Moscardini, I did the best to explain what World Heritage meant as quite a few of them, who had bothered to turn up seemed to be lacking in what it meant to have such an accolade. I gave all my best in a frantic exchange at times, thought I had pulled some in. Dr Knobolis, who teaches at Liverpool Uni. (well some Greek sounding name) Who I later found is a property owner of two apartments in the “Plassy Flats” the saddest block of flats at Kings Dock, asked if I would like to become a council member. I was cheered and seconded in, and there began part of the most frustrating relationship I have ever had.
I was keen; I even gave up my busy lunchtime for meetings. At great financial cost. I would watch as the most foolish things were discussed while world heritage disaster had started. Occasionally people such as Hilary Burridge http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/06/well-its-hahnerman-house-again.html  who I would find out has quite close connections to her low-ness the Dame of Dereliction Louise Ellman. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/search/label/Louise%20Ellman  Burridge would turn the meeting into a Tesco bash….a nimby. Tony Moscardini always seemed to get it spot on. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/06/mann-island-damage-has-been-well-and.html  Patrick Moran used to get annoyed, he stormed out once in anger, only to have to come back 10 minutes later because he had forgotten his shopping. A Grosvenor mole Trevor Skempton turned up at the planning meeting for One Park Worst on behalf of Grosvenor. Now call me old fashioned but is this the reason he was there. He would want to talk and he would spend a lot of time trying to discuss how great Grosvenor were. Even when Private Eyes, Piloti give it a bashing, he was there to defend it even writing in to BD. Writing in about the LPT’s warnings proclaiming the need to blend the old with the new…Yeah, as if we don’t know this. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/08/building-designs-carbuncle-cup.html   The MCS even put it on the website. A delegation including Peter Brown, Charles Hubbard of Edmund Kirby were allowed 10 minutes with the Unesco mission whitewash in October 06 as I had persuaded some to get on board, well those that turned up, some meetings had as little as three people, its hardly a gathering. One MCS council member said to me he couldn’t argue with the planners because he has to work with them.
Its called Lying Down to be Counted.
Peter Brown who teaches at a Liverpool University stitched us up with a consultaion evening there presented by Neptune Developments. One of Neptune’s whose directors trained at the Liverpool Uni and so did the architect of disaster Matt Brookes. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/04/mann-island-bail-out.html Neptune donated the model to the University. Oh and Brian “Mad Hatter” Hatton an educated idiot who couldn’t put a shelf up who also teaches there lined us up on the developers behalf. He would later edit an Architectural Review Jan 08 entitled Liverpool Work in progress and he never upset a developer or architect once. http://info.arplus.com/supplements/liverpool%20work%20in%20progress Remember how it was all going to be Iconic. Pulling them all in to help the decimation of WHS, in fact promoting it. It’s funny reading that now. Anyhow it wasn’t long I was thinking this Brigade are like the Vichy Government, Collaborators with the establishment who are in fact the enemy, on the wrong track, they represent vested interests.
I resigned and renamed them the Merseyside Inert Society they are worse than the developers in my opinion. Only, in my opinion, they are not that inert when they are helping their friends. They all turned up for the wine and cheese evenings that were frequently arranged as smoothers. They actively tried to get one laid on from Peel Holdings who refused. Peter Brown became entertainments organiser...yes. Gave an evening for Henry Owen John to give a talk who was lambasted by some of the more brave. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/05/henry-owen-john-english-heretic.html  Peter Brown was mates with John Hinchliffe. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/02/john-hinchliffe-liverpools-world.html  I said to him stop writing letters Dear John these people are getting away with it and you are letting them. Or Dear Nigel to Nigel Lee the Chief Planning disaster.
Now I am not saying anything illegal has taken place, other than. They have been a shadow of themselves, they were indeed Civic under Quentin’s chairmanship.
They had a civic duty.
There is an old saying for evil to succeed it takes good men to do nothing the Merseyside Civic Society, what a waste of a good name.
I would prefer to be in the resistance than side with the collaborators, I hope they can all sleep at night.

Liverpool Malmaison-The Facade is Falling Off.

So the binge building is over, and now we are all waking up to the hangover. To the shoddy workmanship overseen by a planning department  led by the Riechmarshal Nigel Lee who is  not fit for purpose.
pic courtesy Liverpool Daily Post whose offices in Oldham Hall Street can be seen behind. Todays Ghost says
The Malmaison opened in January 2007 in a blaze of publicity, but its £2.5m stonework started to come loose and a building survey determined the entire work needed to be redone.

It was the first time this specific cladding, which is attached to the building by a bracketing system, has been used in the UK.
Yes it was they, who give it all the publicity as it was a nice place for all the editors and the staff at Trinity "Smoking" Mirror Group to get the wool pulled over their eyes. "Would you like another cocktail Sir". This way well and truly oiled, with freebies, they forget to mention that its views were over the worst  looking  car park.............and it was in the world heritage site buffer zone. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/search/label/Nigel%20Lee Did the building not have a old fashioned clerk of works? Did someone not check the work?

They say it was the first decorative cladding scheme to be bracketed on to a structure. The new Museum of Liverpool  also has this method of fixing the Jura Limestone that replaced the original Travertine Marble that was passed by delegated powers by the planning manager, all too quickly and under the table in my opinion.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/search/label/Milton%20Keynes-On-Sea The Three Grotesques on Mann Island has its black granite stick a brick things fixed with brackets.

Mark James, general manager of the Malmaison Liverpool, said: “It is disappointing that this has happened, but it is reassuring that Malmaison will survive for many years to come.
“Malmaison has made a very long-term commitment to Liverpool. We have had a great three years since we opened.
“This work is not because it is falling off, but we know there is a defect in it as there was extensive work done to survey it all.
“There was a tile that came loose, which was the reason for the investigation.”
He said the problem was related to the bracketing system and the fittings.
“The type of cladding that was used was the first time it had been used in the UK. It was quite an innovative design for the UK.
“Once we knew there was a defect, we took the best measures for the longevity of the building so that is here for the next 60, 80, 100 years.
“It is at no cost to the hotel, we are drawing down on the warranty for the hotel.
“The work is scheduled to take several months, hopefully it will finish by the winter.
http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2010/04/12/prestigious-liverpool-hotel-the-malmaison-loses-its-front-after-just-three-years-92534-26222613/

Yet this is all too familiar http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/03/alexanra-tower-100kg-pane-of-glass.html last month a whole building has to be checked for faults. The Alexandra Tower. Dont they realise the weather conditions. The Unity Building not far away had pieces fall off. Yet Peel press on with a tacky scheme  in the same vicinity. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/03/peel-holdings-want-pier-head-stinky-ink.html
This is all next to the Cruise Liner Jetty http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/03/cruise-from-liverpool.html

A spokesman for AMEC the Jerry Builders who threw it up said: “AMEC’s former construction business was the main contractor on the Malmaison hotel, Liverpool.
“Certain defects in the facade have arisen and we are honouring our contractual obligations by having the defects rectified.
“AMEC sold its construction business in 2007 and is now focused on high-value consultancy, engineering and project management services to the world’s natural resources, nuclear, clean energy, water and environmental sectors.”
Yes pull the other one. I had a client who ordered breakfast in bed and the operative who came in with the tray proudly proclaimed. "Compliments of the Malmaison the Hotel that Dares to be different" Yes it does doesn't it, it hasn't got a facade.

ARE UNESCO CORRUPT-Or Just Plain Stupid Ignorant Imbeciles.

Is Francesco Bandarin ignorant to the facts? Why has he turned a blind eye? Is Ron VanOers Michelle Bonnette who did the reactive monitoring mission in October 06 in on the scam to destroy Liverpool’s World Heritage Site? Did Caity Marsh at the DCMS pull the wool over their eyes or are they turning a blind eye to the destruction of Liverpool’s World Heritage Site because the UK Government through the DCMS has provided 20% of the funding for Unesco? Where Peter Marsden, ask him, peter.marsden@culture.gsi.gov.uk   has played politics with our heritage and what should have been our best asset the WHS and all it could be for the future. So now the kickback and the unflattering recognition begins this time by BD magazine who awarded Liverpool the Carbuncle Cup award for the Terminal Ferry Building, http://www.bdonline.co.uk/story.asp?sectioncode=430&storycode=3147432&channel=783&c=2 this time highlighting the disgusting mess that is unfolding before UNESCO's eyes http://www.bdonline.co.uk/story.asp?storycode=3161475  The picture above is the governments statement on the Historic Environment 2010 showing Liverpool............as it was.... which is now been allowed to be destroyed by the corrupted officials compliant with world heritage disaster.................They really cant be that stupid can they all. Are they not supposed to be clever people there because of their architectural and historical knowledge. Why have they all conspired against us.

This is the reality that BD highlight the mess unfolds while our World Heritage Officer of Space John Hinchliffe stands idly by http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/02/john-hinchliffe-liverpools-world.html and Henry Owen-John http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/05/henry-owen-john-english-heretic.html of English Heretics turn a blind eye right under the nose of head honcho, the Saville Row Bazooka Joe Dr Simon Thurley. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/search/label/Simon%20Thurley
Just look at the way English Heretic have not woken up to reality yet as the use the same old image http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/server/show/nav.19322 to promote world heritage sites.....this is wrong.

And they all watch as the Reichmarshal Nigel Lee our Chief Planning Disaster http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/12/liverpool-planning-its-pantomime-nigel.html runs riot.

http://condensedthoughts.blogspot.com/2010/04/desecration-row.html Some get the level of the disaster but at Trinity "Smoking" Mirrors Group they are..well educated ignorant people really who have let us down badly. Bill Gleeson has an excuse he has bad sight, but the rest of them have no excuses for what has unfolded in front of our eyes, the slant they have projected is ignorance.
Others say they have done nothing illegal. I disagree, they have allowed themselves to be corrupted by the power they possess. They may not have taken cash or done anything illegal, all mentioned have sold their souls......shame on all concerned and watch the backlash begin as the world realises what we have done.

David Irving as Chairman of Liverpools Planning Committee is a Disgrace.

The Planners of Liverpool have three functionary duties it seems. Accept plans, process plans and Rubber Stamp plans.

It does not matter if the plans are for crap architecture that falls to bits in a couple of years as long as developer wants something the Liverpool planning department will get it through. There are more questions than answers.

Then the Riechmarshal Nigel Lee our Chief Planning Disaster manager http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/search/label/Nigel%20Lee  hands them over to the planning committee, made up of poodles without any architectural knowledge and its thumbs up without debate. Liverpool was a city with a world heritage site.......not any more.

I could not attend yesterdays planning meeting I did not know it was debating (sic) the proposed Travelodge on the Strand. I would have lost my temper, if I had of been there. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/01/travelodge-for-liverpools-world.html  Even Trinity "Smoking" Mirrors had a go at this one. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/views/our-view/2010/01/20/liverpool-s-world-famous-waterfront-needs-better-than-another-budget-hotel-100252-25637804/

I had a report put through my door from the intrepid Florence Gersten yesterday. It said I wanted to talk to you about this mornings planning meeting, particularly the new travelodge on the Strand. I was as near total loss of temper, publicly, as I have ever been.
Now this is serious. I had no idea that the plans were being debated.

Irving who asked Florence Gersten if she was representing the Liverpool Preservation Trust altered the Agenda. “No I am representing SOC Save Our City,” she said. The despicable little man knows exactly whom she represents, so why did he ask her this question.
He barracked her breaking into the speech asking her to stop talking she had spoke for two minutes, while the architects were given unlimited time.
“This has been a long meeting and we have had to set off early,” he said
Florence said I have one paragraph left about the colour of the cladding”

“I AM NOT INTERESTED IN THE COLOUR OF THE BUILDING,” he declared

A PLANNING COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN NOT INTERESTED IN THE COLOUR OF THE BUILDING BEING DEBATED, IN THE WORLD HERITAGE SITE. Just where did this bloke  slither in from, no wonder its carbuncles-R-us down at the Pier Head. We have the honour of being a world heritage site and numbskull Irving and the other planning committee poodles are compliant in world heritage disaster, just what has gone wrong in Liverpool. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/11/liverpool-city-council-planning.html

A blue plastic clad building, a Travelodge. They who are the purveyors of Cheap and nasty tacky hotel architecture being allowed into the Liverpool World Heritage Site and the committee Chairman says I am not interested in the colour. Well what do you expect from someone who doesn’t live in Liverpool. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/05/david-irving-planning-chairman-caught.html  It could be said that the current crop of this committee are Subverting the whole planning process.
I hope they can sleep at night.

Just what are the English Heretics doing and where are Unesco. IcomosUK used to comment until Liverpool City Council became a corporate member.

http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/06/mann-island-tale-of-two-cities.html
While next door the famous White Star Line Building lies empty rotting away.

Now the Lyceum of Bold Street is to Get a Carbuncle.

They did it with the Bluecoat  which now has a giant Novotel chimney sticking out of it and today they, the council planning committee have passed contemptious passed plans to do the same to The Lyceum one of the finest neo-classical buildings in Europe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lyceum,_Liverpool  . http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/11/liverpool-novatel-tragic-addition-to.html
The Lyceum was saved by Florence Gersten (it must have been so hard for her to argue this one) with the help of SAVE Britains Heritage http://www.savebritainsheritage.org/  who did the exhibition, TRIUMPH DISASTER and DECAY http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/03/save-exhibition-now-showing-triumph.html  which I reviewed for The Georgian issue no 1/2009 . The saving of the Lyceum is hailed as one of the successes by Marcus Binney in fact a huge one in their entire existence. http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/art/reviews/triumph-disaster-and-decay-milkandsugar-liverpool-1630252.html  It now will be despoiled with yet more planning blight courtesy of Liverpool City Council and its ill educated planning committee http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/11/liverpool-city-council-planning.html  led by the soon to retire permanently to Southport David Irving. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/05/david-irving-planning-chairman-caught.html  An ignorant man whilst Florence was giving a brilliant detailed speech of why it was important to protect the views he did not listen and sat there talking to Nigel Lee, our Chief Planning disaster. He brought in the developers friend John Bimbow of the planning dept who sold it to them. I don’t know how this planning official can sleep at night.
Parts of the plans were needed but again its one step forward and two back in this city.
After all the fuss about Lewis’s closing http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/02/lewiss-is-to-close-300-jobs-to-go.htm  it become evident through the course of the committee meeting that the developers never had any intention for a shop there.

Some Lyceum history.
http://www.ihbc.org.uk/context_archive/28/cold_dir/cold_s.htm
Originally the Lyceum was to be demolished outrage and a massive campaign ensued.
http://www.liverpoolmonuments.co.uk/buildings/lyceum01.html

See planning application and agenda for today’s meeting.
http://councillors.liverpool.gov.uk/Published/C00000307/M00009420/AI00062418/$item10.docA.ps.pdf

In the world heritage buffer zone the impact on views of the Anglican cathedral will be huge.
The English Heritics offered no comments.

David Bartlett from the Daily Ghost was there but with their lead today there is no chance of anything other than a thumbs up. Lets see if he notices anything about the iconic Lyceum to now be wrapped in plastic apartments 22 storeys high. http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2010/02/23/liverpool-department-store-lewis-s-set-to-close-with-the-loss-of-300-jobs-92534-25893044/

The Daily Ghost claims that the shoppers deserted Liverpool but with no chance of building a business the owners of Lewis’s store were left to go downmarket to survive. Its one step forward and one back.

John Hinchliffe-Liverpools World Heritage Waste of Space.

Liverpool’s World Heritage Officer. Yes we have one and have done for over five years. Funded by English Heritage its John Hinchliffe, the man who has sat idly by and watched the desecration of Liverpool’s World Heritage Site while doing nothing about it. What is the point in holding an office of such distinction if you roll over when any developer with a scheme to destroy key views tiggles your belly. Can you imagine letting them build the Three Black Slugs across the key views to the Taj Mahal or Stonehenge. Well Johnny come lately has. I would have been lying down in front to the bulldozers I once told him after a live Radio 4 interview whereby we called him into account over the destruction of Manchester Docks, which pre-dated the Albert Docks by 60 years. I had sent off a piece to Private Eye and it was edited for Piloti’s column that has been good to us over the years. Civic Vandalism I called it he could only stutter sitting next to me.

http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/03/manchester-docks-obliterated.html “What is the point in having the backbone of a jellyfish as far as world heritage principles are concerned”? I said to him outside. What is the point in allowing any old rubbish to be built without even an opinion? What is the point in masquerading?

Not from Liverpool he was bussed in from Yorkshire. He thanked Peter De Figueiredo the Heritage Fraud who was English Heretics Historic Building advisor for his help. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/04/who-polices-heritage-police.html  Figueiredo is now working for Peel Holdings. What good is all the money in the world if you sell your soul? Talking of selling your soul http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/05/henry-owen-john-english-heretic.html  here’s one we did earlier about the Heretics North West Development Director. Yes Development Director not Heritage Director Henry Owen-John.

If there was a World Heritage Officer abatement society this World Heritage Waste of Space should have been reported to them. http://www.nwda.co.uk/news--events/press-releases/200401/liverpool-world-heritage-centr.aspx  They speak with forked tongue.

What is the point of having your job description as World Heritage Officer if you are such a week willed man that you will not forward yourself for anything that upsets the Status Quo? http://www.liverpool.gov.uk/Leisure_and_culture/Tourism_and_travel/World_heritage_site/Management_plan/index.asp  Does he really believe the rubbish he writes that Liverpool has a management plan? http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2007/09/13/liverpool-ordered-to-safeguard-waterfront-64375-19782564/  You would have to be a fool to do so and even more of one to help in preparing such a lie. http://www.architectsjournal.co.uk/home/liverpools-heritage-bid-is-a-site-for-sore-eyes/147046.article He wrote into the architect’s journal some time ago. http://www.openlylocal.com/documents/4238-Minutes-for-North-Liverpool-Scrutiny-Panel-meeting-May-11-2009-1-30PM  Now what is he doing about the Peel proposals.

What is the point in being there sitting in the same office as the Reich marshal Nigel Lee the Chief Planning Officer disaster who has done what the Luftwaffe couldn’t do “rip the heart out of the city”. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/04/knock-off-nigel.html

I hope you are happy with your conscience Mr Hinchliffe We are far from happy with the disgraceful mess that we the public have had to watch unfold while you stand idly by as World Heritage waste of space.

Liverpools Pier Head Another Carbuncle Planned. This Time its Next to The Liver Buildings.

Have a look at the picture on the right and guess where it is for. Milton Keynes I hear you say or some new town from the 60s. No you would be wrong. This is plot 7 Princes Parade and in effect it is next to the Liver Buildings. The artists impression is from where the Terminal Ferry Carbuncle is now. We are turning into the Carbuncle Capital. This building has already had planning permission passed. The architects said it was Mondrian esque I told the committee Mondrian died in 19966 and its already 40 years out of date. http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0100regionalnews/tm_headline=cries-of--sacrilege--as-first-five-star-hotel-is-approved%26method=full%26objectid=18254253%26siteid=50061-name_page.html 06F/1371. I was there arguing when Liverpools "Dame of Disaster" tried to stop me speaking, she who has now buggered off to live on the Duke of Westministers Estate just outside Chester. She rubber stamped it. I recieved a planning letter on the 24th December 09 Planning application no 09F/2610 this was strangely described as to extend extant planning permission for said site. I knew the site, but how many others would see the importance of it where is plot 7 Princes Parade, it could be anywhere. I was just packing up for the Xmas and telephoned a collegue in disgust of the dodgy tactics employed by the planners. Chris Ridland was dealing with it, how come everything he deals with on behalf of Riechmarshal Lee seems to be dealt with in a suspect manner. The applications objections had to be in by 11 January. Most people will not be back to work till the 5th January...how very convenient I thought. Then we had the worst weather for 30 years and the whole of the country came to a standstill. If you want a contentios application dealt with its Xmas here in Liverpool. They know the score. The planners are confident that no-one will be paying attention. I made some further inquiries and complained this is Ridlands reply:

I can confirm that planning application (09F/2610) is applying to extend extant planning permission (06F/1371), which was due to expire on the 18th December 2009. This latest planning application (09F/2610) was received by the Local Planning Authority on the 17th December 2009.

I trust this is of assistance.
Regards,
Chris Ridland
Planning
So the planning app is about to run out and the day before it is resubmitted the day before, and within a week the applications are sent out in a speedily put together excersise. But the way it is handled in truth is a manner more akin to a third world country than a world heritage site city. I informed Unesco who are doing their usual silly dance around the English Heretics advisers.

In a city run by spivs we cant expect anything else. You can object http://www.liverpool.gov.uk/Environment/Planning/ If you dont the spivs will get away with it.

Ben Scofield at the Daily Ghost makes an effort today telling us that the developers dont have any cash and have not filed any accounts and the Directors risk getting struck off, see link below. He writes
A LANDMARK waterfront complex is in jeopardy after its developers failed to secure finance for the scheme more than two years after buying the plot.

Lead Asset Strategies (Liverpool), the company that owns the Princes Parade site, could also be struck off the Companies House Register in a matter of weeks. http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2010/01/27/landmark-liverpool-waterfront-development-in-jeopardy-after-developers-fail-to-get-finance-92534-25693570/

Only in Liverpool could a crap building be plonked in a WHS in front of the Liver Buildings our symbol of the city. They have destroyed the views of Three Graces from the Strand, From the Sea and now for all the visiting Cruise Liners that are earmarked to stop at the Cruise Liner Jetty(another cock up) they are about to add to the mess at Princes Dock, it really does resemble, Milton Keynes-On-Sea.
