Liverpool Central Library-Turns Into A Costa Cafe!!!!

The Grand re-opening is the 17th May.
It will coincide with Lite Nite http://www.lightnightliverpool.co.uk/ It is going to be another big event.
It will be massive, just like the opening of (Grosvenor-pool) Liverpool One and the mess that is the new museum at the Pier Head that destroyed the World Heritage Site. The PR stunts are being dreamt up now for the big launch the mis-truths are being written as we speak, press releases being compiled. Jon Egan the property developers moll is probably even doing them.
The BBC will be there, the washed up Roger Philips will be telling all his thousands of listeners how wonderful it is.
The Ghost and Echo will be doing quadruple page spreads about how great it is....without really thinking the thing through as usual.

The Council will be proclaiming how wonderful it is for Liverpool how amazing it is for the world.

What they wont be telling you is that we have sold 30000 books to make way for an internet Costa cafe. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.co.uk/2010/06/liverpool-library-to-sell-off-30000.html
Now thats Culcha for yer!
They wont be telling you how Warren Bradley and Co sold the Library to a private company in a lease back deal.
Remember those dark days in the 80's when Derek Hatton & co tried to sell off the Town Hall to the Gnomes of Zurich .
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.co.uk/2009/10/liverpool-central-library-violation.html We wrote as long ago as 2009 on the topic of selling off some of your prize assetts to the highest bidder in a lease back deal that was agreed by Executive Council....which was Warren Bradley and his three mates and Colin (Cover up) Hilton the then Chief Executive. Was the convicted councillor Steve Hurst on the committee once

We had a billion pounds of European Objective One money that we doled out to PR companies and Miserytravel to not build the trams and then we have to sell off our libraries. Well we say sell off most of the low profile ones are being closed so Joe Anderson can pay for his PR Guru's £90,000 a year wage bill.

http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.co.uk/2009/11/liverpool-central-library-is-to-be.html
The Library refurbishment was first reported by Vicky Anderson for the Daily Ghost without a whimper of the impending doom for all the books.
So now the Great Dictator Joe Anderson and the Labour Council are going to milk this tragic event for all its worth.

Come back Derek Hatton all is forgiven.

Warren Bradley-You Liar

Why does Liverpool have such a history of bad leadership is it something in the water at the Town Hall. Is there a tradition of dirty polititicians who think they can get away with it.
Warren Bradley who sold out the first tranche of the world heritage site has been charged with perjury.
It is claimed a tragedy by some local commentators. But the real tragedy is that we had to endure this dispicable character for years.
Is it true he was placed in power by Clever Trevor Jones and Mike Storey so they could do what they want?
Picture Warren Bradley "I tell them this long"

Bradley defended the other criminal at the Fib-Dems in Liverpool when he was convicted, Steve Hurst is now a outcast. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.co.uk/2009/09/councillor-steve-hurst-steps-down-good.html

Oh! and Whatever happened to Bernie Turnip.

6 Sir Thomas Street-Every Right To Feel Hacked Off.

Yes this was the sight that greeted Warren Bradley from his office overlooking the building.
"I wondered what all the noise was" he said to Larry Neild, then working for the Daily Ghost, as the shysters, Iliad hacked off the front of the facade, of a perfectly good building, with a Liver bird crested portico.
While it was being considered for listing by the English Heretics.
They needed to line the floors up from the old Municipal Buildings frontage on Dale Street World Heritage Site.  That had been sold to Iliad by the very same council that is charged with protecting our assets. The then Liverpool Spiv-Dem council and its cronies, what a joke, couldn't they have made two stairs to line up the floor heights. Couldn't Nigel Lee have advised Iliad in one of his frequent meetings with them that they cant mess with our heritage. He told me he asked Micheal Hanlon of Maghull Developments not to hack off Josephine Butler House, that is his involvement with developers, or should we say hackers.
Couldn't Steve Corbett from the Liverpool Conservation Office(sic) have stopped them.  No this is Liverpool we destroy our Victorian facades, one of the last remaining full and complete Victorian Streets in the city.
Doreen Jones, who did more damage than anyone in this city passed the plans in an Orchestrated planning committee Manoeuvre, while Steve Hurst the criminal tried to question me for trying to save it.
That man had a cheek alright.
While the Labour councillors on the planning committee also give it the thumbs up.

http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/03/heres-one-they-did-earlier.html

http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2008/02/05/liverpool-georgian-terraces-given-listed-status-64375-20435418/

Bernie Turner, whatever happened to her, she is now sidelined, well she always was on heritage matters. Watching while it all went on around her, while she was supposed to be English Heritage Historic Environment Champion. A title she inherited from Lady Doreen Jones.
So all is well that ends well, I suppose.

Look what they have put in its place, a disgrace.

Warren Bradleys Liverpool War Zones.

There are a few bloggers that we admire in their forthright and honest no-nonsense approach and one of them is Correspondent from the "blog roll" on the right hand side. Scribblings Jottings and Musings.   http://condensedthoughts.blogspot.com/ He is a seld styled Correspondent.
I wish he was working for Trinity "Smoking" Mirror group he would not allow himself to be institutionalised. Its best if we keep on the zone with the finger on the pulse and this is not a bad stop for a liitle truth now and again in between the advertorial world of Trinity "Smoking" Mirrors .
http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2010/04/26/council-leader-warren-bradley-we-ripped-heart-out-of-liverpool-communities-100252-26317085/ Yesterdays Daily Ghost (will someone put the old dog down its riddled with arthritis ) did a spin which we all know about but Correspondent spells it out which I have reprinted below.
The picture I have used was taken in One Park Gone Worst at Chavasse Park, (entitled "I tell them that big") which came 4th in BD magazines Carbuncle cup, defering to the winner the Terminal Ferry Carbuncle.  Here Warren Bradley is talking to John Prescott who came up with the ideas, to rip the heart out of huge communities, and call them New Heartlands. Did he question him about his sick idea? http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/search/label/Elizebeth%20Pascoe
No he chatted about his proudest achievement, which was....Grosvenor-pool. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/02/grosvenor-pool-putting-co-into.html
Well considering he was mentored by Clever Trevor and Doreen who live on the Duke of Westminsters estate, what do we expect. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/09/trevor-jone-steps-down-good-riddance.html

Warren's War Zones
Election campaigning continues apace. Yet amidst the bombast, bluster & bullshit, there are disconcerting sounds of, well, not contrition or remorse exactly, more like an embarrassed clearing of the throat, a muffled sigh, a sotto voce aside.
Home truths are beginning to be acknowledged by those whose state of denial has been so deep as to be subterranean. Wayne has long pointed out how, inter alia, the disfigurement of the city's waterfront blocks the view of the Three Graces. The response until now has varied from an embarrassed silence to an exercise in juvenile name-calling. However, the pretence is starting to slip & Wayne expertly dissected its threadbare nature earlier today  http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/04/mann-island-is-penny-finally-dropping.html
.

Another area where the Fib Dem council is inching dangerously close to a mea culpa concerns housing. Warren Bradley blurts out the obvious to David Bartlett in this morning's Oldham Echo  http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2010/04/26/council-leader-warren-bradley-we-ripped-heart-out-of-liverpool-communities-100252-26317085/
Bartlett is moved to observe that Bradley's comments are "frank". Well, yes & no. It certainly puts the Fib Dems' Bread & Circus approach to the city in a stark context hitherto ignored by Oldham Hall Street. However, it also seeks to deflect at least some of the blame onto Whitehall & the quangocracy: "The council, national government and (regeneration agency) English Partnerships probably bit off more than we could chew.
"We announced six renewal areas, and in hindsight we should have done it one by one. Completing one area and then moving onto the next."
Bradley's tactic is totally transparent, admit mistakes, but imply that Labour & English Partnerships are at least equally culpable. This is election time, don't forget.
The man who is to local history what Jeremy Clarkson is to cycling goes on to deliver some choice comments which act as incriminating evidence in the case against the Fib Dems' reign of misrule in the city:
"You can't rip the heart out of the community and promise them something in 15 years time.
"I just don't think it is correct, but we are where we are. We have now got the job of rebuilding communities and giving them reassurance.........
"We should have landscaped areas so that people didn't feel they were living in a war zone".
That's some self-confessed record of ruin to play at the voters, isn't it? As well as the civic vandalism of what's still mystifyingly called a World Heritage Site & inflicting Grovesnor-pool in the process, Bradley & his cohorts have neglected whole neighbourhoods not fortunate enough to live in the city centre or in Fib Dem wards. The war zones have been left to fester.

Well said Mr Correspondent hope you dont mind me borrowing your well written and direct to the point text.

This is the same bloke Warren Bradley who said,  Prince Charles told him it was all great and the regeneration in Liverpool was marvelous. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/07/warren-bradley-you-are-not-very-clever.html When David Bartlett was presented with a letter from Prince Charle's private secretary to the contrary he hushed it up, shame on you Larry Bartlett, shame on you. You are worse than Larry Neild.
See Warren talking about Liverpools waterfront that under his errr...leadership was destroyed http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2010/02/warren-bradley-talking-about-liverpools.html

Mates with fellow fire-bobby, the disgraced, Steve Hurst http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/09/councillor-steve-hurst-steps-down-good.html
Its all OK our heritage is fine, they even write the stories for the Oldham Hall Street Brigade.

Berni Turner-And a Tin of Sardines

Liverpool City Councillors expenses are laid right open by a freedom of information act request by the Green Party.
http://liverpool.greenparty.org.uk/council%20business/councillors%20expenses.htm
Here are your counclillors expenses available for the public to see, and it makes interesting reading.
http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2009/10/06/a-tin-of-sardines-tesco-sarnies-and-a-bill-for-a-christmas-day-meeting-we-reveal-city-councillors-expenses-claims-100252-24859499/
Some councillors had claims rejected because their position at the council had changed and they were no longer entitled to them .
Cllr Steve Hurst had around £35 of claims rejected after his resignation as executive member for corporate performance.
The comments on the form referred to his resignation and his claims were for duties “no longer approved”.
Hurst said he was still carrying out the duties because he had not been replaced but that he “decided not to challenge them because I was suffering from depression during this time and felt this would only make matters worse”. He has an excuse for everything, even after he is convicted this bloke still gets support, and it all adds up to show the sad state of affairs and the Culture of Capital at the council.
Cllr Hurst had resigned following his conviction under the Representation of the People Act after being caught distributing leaflets smearing a Labour rival.
In total, councillors had £643 worth of travel and food expenses claims rejected in the last year.

SOMETHING FISHY GOING ON.
Big Mouth Berni is off again. She styles herself as a Heritage Champion but will not reply to questions that she does not wish to answer like the 46 listed buildings lost and the buildings falling over whilst the world heritage site is destroyed with empty flats. But when she does its usually abusive. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/08/berni-turner-opens-her-big-gob-again.html
But this time its brine going into her mouth instead of coming out of it. Liberal Democrat member said she no longer planned to claim for subsistence food expenses following her experience with a £1.69 tin of sardines from Waitrose.
Cllr Berni Turner said that she had bought the fish along with her other shopping while busy at the council one day, but did not want to hand over the receipt for her entire shop. (Sure it wasnt from Tesco Berni.) Turner recently got in trouble after she said that Sir Terry Leahy from Tescos ran an evil empire.
But that wasn’t good enough for council expenses scrutineers.
Cllr Turner said: “I did not have an individual receipt for this tin of sardines, so in the end I had to cut the outer wrapper off the tin in order to claim. I bought them, ate them and then ended up having to clip the thing to the expenses form to prove I’d purchased them. In the end I thought can I be bothered doing all this for this? I can’t.” http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/08/lets-take-sentimental-journey-with.html
What an absolute embarrasment.
Here is one of her expense claims.

You know you would be too ashamed to claim for a tin of sardines. To even think you get paid by the public for eating, does she not have to eat anyhow.

Cllr Ron Gould, executive member for health, learned while attending the opening of a new supermarket in Liverpool that the phrase “every little helps” is not in city accountants’ vocabulary. He had a claim for £1.60 for a sandwich knocked back while standing in for council leader Cllr Warren Bradley at the opening of a city centre Tesco.
Cllr Gould insisted his claim was legitimate, despite it being knocked back.
“I was asked to go to the opening of the Tesco as the date had been brought forward, so the date I opened it was not the date the council official had. I was in town all morning so I bought a sandwich, but they knocked it back. But I’m not going to go to war over it, it’s just one of those things.”

Warren Bradley intends going to the opening of new Tescos while they are taking over the city, hum, hum. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/search/label/Tesco-pool
You know the whole way that these people behave leaves me amazed and very disapointed to be represented by such a bunch of penny pinchers.

No mention of Trevor Jones expenses though. Isnt that a shame.

Councillor Steve Hurst Steps Down-Good Riddance

You know you don't get any Shysters stepping down in Liverpool for ages and then you get two in a week, that's the Fib-Dems for you.
It is a sad reflection of the local political scene that this despicable no-mark was allowed to rise so highly by the elder statesmen of the party. Well what do you expect with Trevor Jones and Mike Storey running the place with strings attached to Warren Bradley like puppeteers moving his arms and legs.
Th absolute outrage that has seen off this fellow Fire Bobby of Warren Bradley, who supported him is there to be seen. Even the local press were against him. http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2009/09/09/convicted-liberal-democrat-steve-hurst-is-to-stand-down-from-liverpool-council-92534-24641192/ Doreen Jones supported him saying politics is a dirty business...yes I saw it happen at the planning committee where Hurst was often Vice Chairman when Doreen Jones stepped down as chair because of her many conflicts of interest. We now have to live with their disgraceful rubber stamping of inappropriate carbuncles for the world heritage site.
Mike Storey said he would trust him with his life. http://enemies-ofthe-people.blogspot.com/search?q=mike+storey
Hurst is finally Burst.....Good Riddance.

Concourse House One Step Forward and Two Back.

During the recent posts of One Park Worst one of our colleagues suggested it was the new Concourse House. I think that is a fair assessment and it made me think about the way the building was hailed as a new dawn in the 60s as was St Johns market. It started me to think we are in the same position as that new dawn they promised us when the town centre was re-jigged a couple of decades ago and the Liverpool One of its day was built.
Click on the pic Iliad say History is our future and look what they think about our history with the vandalising of 6 Sir Thomas Street.
Incidentally the Criminal Steve Hurst was very vocal when he passed the plans for the demolition of the facade of 6 Sir Thomas Street he was infact reported to the Chief Executive Colin "Cover Up" Hilton who was picked by him and Storey and Bradley.
http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/03/heres-one-they-did-earlier.html
We finally get rid of the obscene 1960s monster on the Vista of Lime Street opposite St Georges Hall and then the communists from the Eastern Block move in and build us "The Breeze Blocks". This was a nomination for Liver pools Carbuncle Cup from a colleague of mine. Its one step forward and two back all the time with the morons who are planning my city.
The whole amateurish approach to planning our future by the Reichmarshal Nigel Lee and his planning team (sic) leaves me to fear that in no uncertain terms that we are building...The New Concourse Houses of their day with the likes of One Park "Gone" West. We are creating the new Milton Keynes-On-Sea. The Binge building is now over and we are waking up with a headache and none more so a headache as this Stazi brute which could not even be called architecture it is that bad.

Built under the guise of regeneration, this is degeneration of the worst kind it is another legacy that we will have to live with forever in the World Heritage Site.
Imagine building this in front of the Taj Mahal another World Heritage Site.

Trinity "Smoking" Mirrors Group.

Yes it is well deserved by the local rags. All the recent criticism, at the state of reporting and the way the Oldham Echo (nice term by Correspondent) http://condensedthoughts.blogspot.com/2009/08/still-speaking-up-for-merseyside.html seems to be run by local business through their press companies such as Finch and October Communications. Larry Neild who was the City Editor of the Post and Echo, now works for October, and it would not be too unreasonable to assume that the reason that Jon Egan employed him is to use his contacts at his old paper. Last time I spoke to him he was working on the congestion charge debate in Manchester! Peel holdings had a big interest in the outcome of that vote owning Trafford Park. The local papers no longer appear to have journos in the old tradition, who do the true work that their profession requires. Instead Trinity "Smoking" Mirrors Group in Liverpool rely on the Council (partners with Peel) and the local communications companies to feed them with snippets that they often get wrong, see yesterdays Daily Post. Larry Neild was once given an award by Frank McKenna's Downtown Liverpool and his acceptance speech lasted 15 minutes he had all those local business people in stitches. I liked Larry when we were working quite closely on a thing that I knew he held dear to him, the impending disaster that was to befall the world heritage site. But ath the same time http://www.liverpoolpsda.co.uk/Press/PressCuttings/06-2006/pelli+tower.htm was he doing a job for Grosvener or was he misquoted? And look at the mess at Chavasse Lawn of what he promoted as a jewel in the crown. http://condensedthoughts.blogspot.com/2009/07/wish-to-declare-interest-larry.html
It is alleged that the godson to the director of a national museum's offspring is quite high up in Trinity "Smoking" Mirror Group. Quite a lot of the local journos are moonlighting doing other jobs for other papers, glossy or not. Some owned by Trinty some not. Its all wheels within wheels.
I decided to post the article several weeks ago after I decided I cannot stand the style of the local papers anymore. Which began my criticism of the local rags with a lack of reportage that Peel had plans passed for a super-port at Salford, that the Oldham Echo and its Daily Ghost ignored. I questioned who paid for Mark Thomas's trip to Shanghai that he 'twittered' about.
Peel are sponsoring Shanghai 2010 along with Liverpool City Council. All we need now is Steve Hurst to be Liverpool's delegate on the stall and we will have a fete acompli.
I had boycotted buying the Post, well because its free, they give it away, but will not even look at the Echo, which is a bad paper in my opinion edited by........So I was bold enough to e-mail my complaints to both editors and the Daily Post business section giving an opinion as to the importance of Peels impending grasp and the threat to our local industry, complaining why it was not reported upon. Who are Peels press agents? It is my opinion they are getting preferential treatment by the press almost being suck holed to.
Fair enough weeks later an in depth article was done by Barry Turnbull. http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/ldpbusiness/business-features/2009/08/05/is-new-manchester-port-a-threat-to-liverpool-92534-24317574/ In the same copy it showed an example of our fears manufacturing being moved to China and a piece about Princes Dock http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/ldpbusiness/business-local/2009/08/05/peel-appoints-dtz-as-joint-agent-on-princes-dock-liverpool-92534-24317711/which they own. http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/ldpbusiness/business-local/2009/08/05/new-bibby-ship-sets-sail-from-shanghai-92534-24317570/ This delay will suit Peel holdings who are now saying that it will now be able to barge goods down the Manchester Ship Canal and turning it into a good news story by saying it will free up the the roads. Remember the seed was sown by Tesco with wine being barged down the canal.....who spun that one in.....as if, Tesco are going to use barges with consumables.
We will lose a lot of jobs in Liverpool as a result of this shift of the port to Salford and the Daily Peel should have been up to speed.....ahead of the event, not after it.
So is it the editing why we get the news late? Is it because the printing is now done in Oldham that we are getting the Daily Ghost 5 days late? Or is it the transport situation? Just wait till the snow comes in, and what about this preferential treatment of Peel?........then the penny dropped when I was sent this picture here it is the reason the news is late, its the new mode of transport for the local press, barging the paper down the Manchester Ship Canal from........Oldham.

Milton Keynes-On-Sea. We Are Rumbled.

Here is a blog from a site called Bad British Architecture.

The View of Princes Dock that Captain Nick Nash talked about from the bridge of the Crown Princess. Why would you do this in a WHS?
http://badbritisharchitecture.blogspot.com/2009/07/pier-head-ferry-terminal-liverpool-by.html
How dare someone from out of the city have a swipe at the modern buildings we are putting up in Milton Keynes-On-Sea......err Liverpool.
Well it seems we have been well and truly rumbled with this carbuncle and it only opened last week. The Beatles museum was an afterthought and there it is right on the Pier Head. Next time Gerry takes a Ferry surely he will be Seasick Steve when he sees what they have done to the Pier Head. Here is the planning history. http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0100regionalnews/tm_headline=new-mersey-ferry-terminal-unveiled%26method=full%26objectid=18012714%26siteid=50061-name_page.html
Lady Dorian Gray passed the plans, the Doyenne of Disaster pretended that she was forced to do so. She nearly had me crying...with laughter what a joke. Steve Hurst the criminal who is mates and being supported by Warren Bradley, was on the committee. They tried to stop me objecting in a disgraceful manner playing Spivs-R-Us with planning laws. Caroline Innes covered the meeting and Larry Neild the then city editor of the Daily Ghost said "Caroline doesnt know any of them its her first meeting and she come back in to the office and said what a disgraceful and disgusting bunch of people" (the committee). Not my words.
The Captain of the Floating Palace the Crown Princess stood on the deck and was asked what makes the trip to Liverpool special.
http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/golf/golf-news/2009/06/30/crown-princess-takes-her-mersey-crown-as-biggest-passenger-ship-comes-to-liverpool-92534-24019642/
What he really said was, "It is wonderful to steam up the Mersey and see the fantastic Liver buildings, the new terminal is great, The Three Graces are what makes Liverpool .....I don't know what they have done here though" pointing to Princes dock "Why would build such rubbish next to a world heritage site that is just an ugly eyesore, how can they get away with that" see yesterdays post aparrently he is contradicting what Warren Bradley said HRH said to him.
We are now well and truly rumbled and the City Council acting as Spivs-R-Us promised us Regeneration and they have give us the slums of the future on Princess Dock and filled it in, yes the jerks filled it in. The only development I had supported in the world heritage site was the proposals to build foating homes on Princes Dock and they refused it. Afterwards I realised why...because its ony 2ft deep. And now apparently the Ferry Terminal isn't very good either, some say. I wonder what those at BBA will make of Three Ugly Sisters at Mann Island and the White Elephant museum.
Here is one we did earlier. http://liverpoolpreservationtrust.blogspot.com/2009/05/liverpools-world-heritage-site.html

PIER HEAD FERRY TERMINAL, LIVERPOOL BY HAMILTON ARCHITECTS
Hmm, I wonder what they've been putting in the tea at Hamilton Architects? The practice has what you might euphemistically describe as a 'mixed' portfolio, ranging from fugly Georgiana to a plasticky hospital. But here they were clearly given a bit of a budget, and decided to give free reign to their frustrated avant-gardism. It riffs on the new (and nearby) Museum of Liverpool by 3XN, with a stone-clad slightly angular form. they've then gone ahead and made some hideously ill-considered glazed cut outs that collide horribly with the already deeply questionable geometry. This building is what happens when a bad architect reads a few too many architecture magazines, and think that doing shapes is a good idea. The result is this anti-context, anti-scale, uncivilised building, exuding a staggering lack of decorum on the benighted World Heritage Site that is Liverpool's waterfront. When shit practices do shapes, it also reveals the absolute stupidity and rampant subjectivity of architecture today. This was the winner of an international competition - the jury probably thought they were getting a B-team Libeskind or something. Liverpool people will be relieved to hear that the programme of this building is an absolutely essential addition to the city's cultural landscape - a second Beatles Museum. The museum promises a "magical journey through the music of the Beatles, complete with motion, sound and water". Sounds like a museological f**king revolution. According to the architect, the building has become popular with 'photographers' because of its 'quirky' 'angles'. Unfortunately, as you can see from the photos above, it has become popular with really sh*t photographers, who barely know how to hold their cameras up straight.

By Jove, you have highlighted some sh*te! It is reassuring to see that Liverpool is not the only place under seige from the Defocation School of Architecture. Hideous and abominable as some of these developments are, I think you have to go a long way to beat Liverpool 1 Park Gone West Apartments which as I prove were actually based on a toilet product. Warren Bradley-You Are Not Very Clever

Did Prince Charles really say to Warren Bradley this is worthy of a WHS.
http://blogs.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/dalestreetblues/2009/06/prince-charles-seal-of-approva.html

Not many people ever leave a comment on Dave Bartletts blog but this one seems to have kicked up a fuss.
pic Milton Keynes-On-Sea
http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2009/06/26/leading-politicians-face-liverpool-s-young-professionals-92534-23985324/2/ He mischievously posted it after a report by...guess who, Alan Weston.
Warren Bradley says during a conversation with Prince Charles "What do you think of the Waterfront" and Charles say "Hey its great what you are doing there in Liverpool it looks marvelous". I think not. http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/liverpooldailypost/news/regionalnews/tm_headline=charles-calls-for-need-to-preserve-heritage-site%26method=full%26objectid=18931210%26siteid=50061-name_page.html
I think it looks like another load of tosh spin from someone who wouldn't know a decent building if it fell on him. While he is driving round in his appliance putting fires out in historic buildings does he not see the dereliction in Toxteth. The Georgian buildings such as The Wellington Rooms still in a perilous state.

The Daily Post recently ran article on the developments at Mann island which was a fair and balanced one. How can you get a balanced view by going and finding the only three people in the city who support something. Its like making a balanced argument over the Third Reich...well not quite but you know what I mean. http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0100regionalnews/tm_objectid=16763546&method=full&siteid=50061&headline=mann-island--your-views-name_page.html Can a argument ever be fair when the answer is already made by the people putting the view forward?

Here is a old debate on the BBC that I took part in with the Barons views.

Larry used to have views on a lot of things relating to Liverpool's Heritage and ran several articles about the loss of views and WHS status and the need to preserve our past.
What are his views now he works for October Communications who have been employed by the City Council, NWDA, Neptune developments and were the company who first sold us down the river with the competition for the Will Alsop "Glass Pie in the Sky" Cloud?

Liverpool City Council leader Warren Bradley facing Liberal Democrat rebellion.
Jun 26 2009 by Marc Waddington, Liverpool Daily Post

LIVERPOOL Council leader Warren Bradley was last night facing a rebellion from within his own benches over his continued support for convicted councillor Steve Hurst.
Members privately say they are deeply troubled that the local party rules – which appear to forbid anyone convicted under the Representation of the People Act to seek nomination – could be disregarded in order to let Cllr Hurst stand again.
Wavertree Cllr Hurst was last year convicted of breaking election law under the Act after being caught distributing leaflets smearing a Labour rival and her husband.
The judge said at the end of an appeal that Cllr Hurst had been responsible for “dirty tactics of the worst kind”, but city leader Cllr Bradley has stuck by him throughout, to the dismay of some members.
Now, ahead of a Labour motion on July 8 calling on Cllr Hurst to resign from his seat, several senior Lib-Dem sources say there is a strong chance some will abstain from voting to avoid being whipped into supporting Cllr Hurst.
The issue is gaining importance as the Lib-Dems currently have a wafer-thin majority of one, and just a couple of defections could see the party lose power in Liver-pool for the first time in 11 years.
Cllr Hurst’s term of office comes to an end next year in the safe Wavertree seat.
Some party colleagues fear the ongoing scandal could affect their chances of re-election.
The Daily Post has obtained a copy of a candidate application form sent out ahead of the selection of candidates for the 2010 elections.
The form states that “people who have been guilty of corrupt or illegal practices under the Representation of the People Act are disqualified from being a candidate”.
A spokesman from the party’s national office said: “Cllr Hurst declared his conviction to his local party in line with their standard approval procedures and has been re-approved for selection by his local party.”
This statement appears to contradict the candidate form, but the national office said it could not get further involved unless it received a complaint from a member of the public or a Lib-Dem party member.
Last night Cllr Bradley declined to comment and said it was an internal party matter.
Senior Lib-Dems told the Daily Post Cllr Bradley’s support for Cllr Hurst had “split the party from top to bottom” and it could cost the party control of the council at next year’s local elections.
One member said: “I was going to say in a way I feel sorry for Steve but actually, I don’t. He is no friend of mine. But he was Warren’s best mate and that’s the ticket to power and influence.”
Another said: “He has got a criminal record. It shows a total lack of judgement on the leader’s part.”
The Daily Post understands that prior to an earlier Labour no confidence vote, efforts were made to locate Cllr Stuart Monkcom – on holiday in Guernsey at the time –with a view to even flying him back for the vote.
When asked about his position on the matter, Cllr Monkcom said that it would have been “incongruous” for him to take part in such a vote as he was a member of the city council’s standards committee.
Lib-Dem Cllr Roger Johnston was picked up and returned by taxi to the Royal Hospital to be able to take part in the recent vote.
Cllr Johnson dismissed sugges-tions he had been forced to attend, but said he felt “the rules were quite clear” about whether Cllr Hurst is allowed to stand again.
Last night Cllr Joe Anderson, Labour leader, said: “If a convicted criminal is allowed to get away with it, it will be a slap in the face to the legal system.
“I know there are decent Lib-Dem councillors and I hope they will back our motion.”
In May the Daily Post revea-led how campaigning grand-mother Elizabeth Pascoe is planning to stand in 2010’s elections against Cllr Hurst.
Ms Pascoe, who has battled against Edge Lane regeneration, said she wanted to take a stand against the Lib-Dems’ decision to allow him to remain part of the group and appoint him to a £5,675 position on Merseytravel’s board.
At the time Cllr Bradley said: “I am sure Steve will be re-elected for Wavertree next year.”

WHAT A DICK YOU ARE MR BRADLEY.
http://www.warrenbradley.com/ Check out his website. He has gone mad.

Once after my interview on BBC Northwest talking about my disgust for the proposals at the Pier Head, he, next on said "Liverpool has always had controversy, there was a lot of controversy when they built the Liver Buildings 800 years ago".
I should YouTube it.

Chavasse Park a Monument to Greed

Rod Holmes came in my shop today.
I left him very wound up last time I spoke with him. The usual calm and collective Rodney who pulled the whole scheme together for the Duke of Grosvenor-pool and Westminster was annoyed with me. I had dared to state that the project was like a Trafford Park in the city without a roof on. He went for it “Well that’s just your opinion” he said he got very agitated at one time.
Florence Gersten and I were objectors to the absolutely horrendous Cesar Pelli tower on Chavasse Park in the buffer zone. He had been very worried, we having brought Unesco into Liverpool for a reactive monitoring mission had complained to the Chief Planning officer that they had started work without planning consent. Subsequently a planning committee approval was sought in no time at all. Lady Dorian Jones vacated the chair because she knew the applicant. She had recently publicly stated how she had such a wonderful time at the Duke of Westminster’s daughters wedding…. er hang on the chair of the planning committee who Warren Bradley the council leader stated publicly had mentored him, whose address came up as CH4 9DG, which is on the Dukes Estate ....how curious.
David” I don’t live in Liverpool” Irving the deputy chair passed it while the convicted Councillor Hurst tried to agitate me to put me off. They already had it passed in my opinion and now we have something resembling Widnes Tech on the Liverpool skyline. Rodney was back to his usual calm self today and I did not wind him. His wife had told him about my shop, not sure if he knew it was me who runs it, as he may not have come in.
I had listened to a Radio 4 programme today about the recession and the subsequent empty shops. The presenter was in Chester while the interviewees were claiming a lot of people had gone shopping to Liverpool 1 hitting the town hard. So the Duke of Westminster who has a vast estate, just outside Chester, has helped kill the town because he built Liverpool 1. How strange is that, is that like shooting yourself in the foot or what?
Image 1 The building completed. Image 2 under construction showing its placement in the WHS. Image 3 from the Albert Dock the biggest conglomeration of Grade I listed buildings in the country.
Rod is now chair of Mersey Partnerships. He was mopping beads of sweat last time I was speaking to him calling us the Heritage People “Well we tried to engage everybody”. He said and I stopped him and said “Mr Holmes why do you look at those who love their city as enemies".

He stopped and paused “ Sometimes Mr Holmes your enemies are your best friends in disguise, they are the ones that tell you the truth” I proclaimed.
I wish him well in his new job but we need to keep an eye on Peel Holdings who have far too much power.

The flats at Chavasse Park that we and others objected to, have been reduced again to 90k because they have not sold. They will also give you 5k of furniture free that’s a minimum of 20% down in the year since they went on the market. The potential buyers reneged, so they have not sold. The reality is that if Grosvener and the council Spivs who pushed it through increasing its height from 12 Storeys on the master plan to 17 storeys had of listened they would not have had an empty block and an eyesore in the World Heritage Site, that we will have to live with forever, or until it falls down in 30 years. Sometimes people don’t listen.
Captain Chavasse will be turning in his grave with this as monument to his sacrifice.

Vote Elizebeth Pascoe to Flatten Hurst

Well does Hurst know what he is letting himself in for Elizebeth is on the case and here we have an honourable hard fighting woman against a Spiv Fib-Dem shouldnt be much competition.
http://www.edge-lane.com/
Considering it was Hurst as a Executive Council member who pushed the plans through to demolish her house in Edge Lane isnt this a bit ironic that she may flatten him at the next election.
Good luck Elizebeth.
Campaigning Liverpool grandmother to stand against law break councillor
May 27 2009 by David Bartlett, Liverpool Daily Post

CAMPAIGNING grandmother Elizabeth Pascoe is to stand in next year’s Liverpool Council elections against a Liberal Democrat councillor convicted of breaking election law.
Ms Pascoe, who made her name in Liverpool fighting to save her home in a battle against Edge Lane regeneration, will be running as a direct challenge to Cllr Steve Hurst in his Wavertree ward.
Ms Pascoe said she wanted to take a stand against the Lib-Dems’ decision to allow him to remain part of the group and appoint him to a £5,675 position on Merseytravel’s board.
Last night, Ms Pascoe said: “It is high time to clean up politics. I have decided to stand as a Green Party candidate partly because the Green councillors representing Liverpool have a good record of taking a principled stand in favour of ordinary people, and are neither in pockets of big corporations nor filling their own pockets at Westminster.
“If something so simple as the exposure of MPs’ blatant abuse of expenses issue can so obviously shake things up, then we must take this opportunity for an across-the-board clean-up.
“I am so angry with what is happening to Liverpool and Britain, and the world in the name of ‘progress’ when it is blatantly obvious that it is no such thing.
“I need to do something useful with that anger, even though the last thing I thought I would ever want to do was get into politics.”
It will not be Ms Pascoe’s first foray into the political sphere, having stood in 2006 for the Liberal party in the Kensington and Fairfield ward, which she lost to Labour.Cllr Hurst currently enjoys one of the largest majorities in the city, as Wavertree is probably the Lib-Dems’ safest ward.
Liverpool council leader Warren Bradley said: “Steve works very hard in his community and is well known.
“Anyone is entitled to challenge anyone, but I am sure Steve will be re-elected for Wavertree next year.”
Ms Pascoe is also putting herself forward for selection for the Greens as a Westminster Parliamentary candidate for one of the Liverpool constituencies.
Cllr John Coyne, leader of the Greens on the city council, said: “I am very pleased to welcome Elizabeth Pascoe to the council.
“It will be a tough challenge to get her elected to Wavertree, but we are going to take a crack at it.”
In April, Cllr Hurst was condemned by a judge for “dirty tactics of the worst kind”, after failing to have his conviction overturned.
In December last year, he was convicted of delivering a leaflet entitled “Walton Scab,” attacking sitting Labour councillor Pauline Walton and her firefighter husband in the May, 2007, council elections.
At the time, he stood down from Liverpool’s ruling executive board.

Spivs-R-Us Burst Hurst is Re-inflated

MORE LIVERPOOL CITY COUNCIL SPIVS-R-US
JOBS FOR THE BOYS.

I AM GOING TO DIRECT YOU THROUGH TO THE BLOG BELOW because it says all I wished to say....well not quite... like... how can these ignorant public paid officials such as Warren "Barney Rubble" Bradley be so brash as to think they can get away with this...it makes a mockery of the whole of the public system backslappery in Liverpool.
FELLOW FIREMAN LOOKS AFTER HIS MATE. And why are we always putting "Barneys" fires out in this city.
Barney was mentored by disgraced Mike Storey the new Lord Mayor who was mentored by ex lord Mayor Clevor Trevor...Barney now as leader of the council effectivly dishes out the jobs for the boys without a inkling for public opinion. Oh the poor fellow he has been through such a rough time he has to move on he says.
Just how did you get away with that one Barney.

How do Liverpool City Council make their own rules up.

If there is any further proof that Liverpool is the worst run council in the country it is the way they have handled the Councillor "Burst" Hurst affair. Mike Storey another disgraced councillor and ex Council leader recently said " I would trust Steve Hurst with my life". It beggers belief that they all stick together red faced as if nothing has happened.
Above is a letter from the city solicitor as a reply to a letter I sent to Colin "Cover up" Hilton the Council Chief Executive, it apears to be saying its alright for Hurst to carry on doing his duties as long as he didnt go to jail for three months.
Considering that Colin "Cover up" was picked to be Chief Exec by Mike Storey and Warren Bradley, who were both on the Executive Board with Hurst it is hard to gain respect for the whole system that is Liverpool City Council, it makes it look like SPIVS-R-US. WHEN WILL THIS BAD ATTITUDE FROM THE WORST RUN COUNCIL IN THE COUNTRY STOP?

SPIVS-R-US

COUNCILLOR HURST FULLY SUPPORTED BY ALL HIS MATES AT THE COUNCIL TOO..........What does this say about the city when another Councillor is disgraced.
The future Mayor Mike Storey had also supported him !!!!!!!!!!!!
Along with numerous other senior FIB DEM councillors.
Leading Liverpool councillor loses appeal over ‘dirty tactics’
Apr 8 2009 Liverpool Daily Post

http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2009/04/08/leading-liverpool-councillor-loses-appeal-over-dirty-tactics-92534-23337809/

Warren Bradley says anyone who knows him can vouch for his integrity......wrong this man is a disgrace to the city and as part of the planning committee and Executive Board has done more damage of recent years than the Luftwaffe did in the blitz. I personally watched him at work with deals that appeared to be already worked out before they even came to the planning committee. Helping to stitch up citizens, playing dirty politics with planning laws. Trying to belittle people of the city who where there because they care passionately about their environment. He should be put in stocks at the Pier Head so we can all throw rotten vegetables at him. A disgrace. Just look at some of the plans he supported. Who is next I wonder. AND WHY IS HE STILL THERE?

BURST HURST

On Dave Bartlett's blog today is this article. picture courtesy Daily Post
http://blogs.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/dalestreetblues/2009/03/liverpool-liberal-democrat-ste.html
Ex Councillor Steve Hurst is one of the most appalling characters I have had the misfortune to come across in matters of planning principle. As a fellow fireman he is friends with Warren Bradley and was the Lib Dem Whip and was a council executive member before resigning in disgrace.
In his capacity as vice Chairman in the planning committee. He was, Second only to Doreen Jones in his contempt for Liverpool's historic fabric. Even trying to make a fool out of objectors,to put them off. Playing politics with planning.
It was most alarming watching him in action. Several complaints about his conduct were made to Colin Hilton regarding behaviour prior to all this happening. Colin Hilton the Chief Executive and a fellow executive board member of the council, did nothing.
Liverpool Liberal Democrat Steve Hurst appeal to be heard next week
By David Bartlett on Mar 31, 09 10:07 AM
THE appeal of a leading Liverpool councillor convicted of breaking election law will be heard next week.
Liberal Democrat Steve Hurst was convicted of delivering a leaflet titled "Walton Scab," attacking sitting Labour councillor Pauline Walton and her firefighter husband Keith in December.
Masquerading as a leaflet from The United Socialist Party (TUSP), the pink flier accused Mr Walton of crossing a Fire Brigades Union picket line during a strike.
Mrs Walton was accused of leaving council meetings early to learn lap dancing. And it said Mr Walton was so unpopular at Lee Park golf course he couldn't find a playing partner.
Upon conviction Cllr Hurst was fined £500 and ordered to pay £790 costs as well as a £15 victim surcharge.
The Wavertree councillor also stood down from his position on Liverpool's ruling executive board.
The three-day appeal starts at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday. Cllr Hurst has always denied the charges.

Hurst resigns
Quote Cllr Joe Anderson, leader of the opposition, said: “This is a sorry, despicable episode in Liverpool politics and the Lib-Dem leadership should be ashamed to be associated with this vicious, hurtful, and dirty campaign.’’
Cllr Anderson said Cllr Hurst ‘‘needs to be sacked immediately’’.
