The Labour councillor highlighted the benefits of north docklands regeneration citing the possible creation of 20,000 jobs and complete transformation of a large deprived area of north Liverpool.
A recent inspection by a UNESCO committee revealed the very real danger that the organisation’s opposition to parts of the project could scupper the city’s heritage status
But Cllr Anderson made clear his priorities for 2012. He said: “Turning Peel Holdings (the developer) away doesn’t say to the world that Liverpool is a thriving modern city. It says we’re a city that is stuck in the past.

“You really do need to see the scale of this project to understand just how much impact it could have.

“This, very simply, would transform our city. It is too big an opportunity to let slip by.
“The city’s leading Lib-Dem, Richard Kemp, says that World Heritage Site status is more important than the Liverpool Waters Scheme.
“The Lib-Dem would turn away 20,000 jobs and £5bn of regeneration, all for the sake of a certificate on the wall in the Town Hall.
“I say that’s madness. Whatever happens in 2012, let me be absolutely clear about one thing: we will back Liverpool Waters.”

We call it dodgy dealing right in front of the eyes of the public, and the local press, who should be watching what the property developing Mayor Joe Anderson is doing with our public funds. Some Time ago Wayne campaigned to bring some life back into the historic Albion House after it had lain there empty for years claiming it would be a perfect place to link Liverpool, on a global stage with the huge interest of the tragic events, that happened on the fateful night, when the Titanic was sunk. He added that the building’s impact on the views has not taken him by surprise because he had looked at models of the area before they were built.
But he said: “I’m deeply disappointed that those views are now being lost. It’s bizarre that Liverpool residents now have to go to Birkenhead to see that best view of the Three Graces.”
A Liverpool city council spokesman added: “The development brief set the framework for schemes on this site. It was intended as guidance and was not prescriptive.
“Planning applications are considered in the light of this guidance and when this scheme was determined it was considered that it followed the principles of the brief in that developments should provide ‘glimpse’ views of the Three Graces.
“This view was endorsed by ICOMOS, who visited the site on behalf of the World Heritage Committee.”

PLANS to create an international migration centre (IMC) to celebrate Liverpool’s role as a gateway to the Americas were due to be announced today.

In a speech today Cllr Anderson was expected to say: “We need to continue to develop a game-changing programme of events and develop a new way of working that defines the city’s ambition and vision.
“Our success has not made us complacent. The economic climate has not diminished our ambition. In fact it has made us more imaginative, more innovative.”

Toxteth is in line for a major transformation worth £47m – including the UK’s first monument to victims of the slave trade.
The massive project will see St James Church on the corner of Upper Parliament Street and Park Road refurbished, and an “African Garden of Remembrance” placed in the graveyard in recognition of the many slaves who were buried there.
The council hopes the monument will be a “major pilgrimage attraction bringing tourists and particularly religious sightseers from America, the Caribbean and West Africa”.

Joe Anderson-Sitting Far Too Close To Frank McKenna.

  Last weeks "Cool Business Award" Ceremony, (excuse me for laughing but I couldn't think of a single grey suited flannelet who was there who may have been remotely cool), was attended by Joe Anderson who is proud to proclaim Mr McKenna as a fellow Labour party member and supporter. Mr McKenna has a chequered history of Labour Party membership.

Frankly, I don't like the relationship between our elected council leader and a Spiv. In my opinion, everyone knows him as a spiv that is what he gets paid for, to ease his fellow businessmen into little tight holes that may be hard to get to otherwise. 

The Council leader should be above this sort of relationship with local business men, especially those with a dubious history. They should not be holding hands under the table. 

 It could be that, in my opinion, ill thought out relationships makes him ignore bodies such as English Heritage, and he may try to jib the planning procedure in a rush to help property developers, as it appears is happening with Peel Holdings.

Mr Anderson should be aware that a public inquiry should be called for over Liverpool Waters.

Another Architectural Disaster For Liverpool. How much more can it take.

For nearly a hundred years the Anglican cathedral has been the dominant force on Liverpool's skyline.

 It has sat head and shoulders above The Three Graces since its inception. It was meant to do this.

Designed to be placed on the highest point where it could be seen from everywhere. Not just in Liverpool but from the Mersey and beyond to Wales. 

It has proudly proclaimed its majesty to all.

Until now when Joe Anderson becomes Mayor.

Joe Anderson is not known as an aesthetic values. But what he is known for is letting his friendly property developing mates introduced by Frank McKenna to build garbage all over the city.

Student flats everywhere and most of them are not even sold and are built on spec. 

If you scroll through Right Move you will find them in the lower price ranges being offered with a guaranteed 8% return.

 There is a giant Pyramid scheme being played out in front of our eyes. These are the slums of the future. Liverpool worked 30 years to get rid of its tenements only to start building them again. 

They knocked down the badly built high rise flats....only to start building them again.

Liverpool is a World Heritage Site. Though you wouldn't think so when you look at Liverpool's New Pier Head.

They have destroyed the sense of the place and still the sycophants at the BBC and the Liverpool Echo keep on calling it Liverpool's world renowned skyline, unable to admit it is a architectural disaster.

Joe Anderson and the Labour party actually put objections into the Three Black Coffins and the New Museum of Liverpool.

It is bad times for Liverpools Heritage and if the reader does not want to, or can not see the disaster there is nothing the writer can do about your taste in architecture. 

But why ruin the rest. Open your eyes wake up to reality, use your mentality. Its a mess.

Liverpool's Supplementary Development Document spells out the key views and most of them have been destroyed or largely ignored.

The most important key views are from all over pointing from every direction to the Anglican Cathedral designed by Giles Gilbert Scott.

Now Joe Anderson's “cosy” developer maes including Eliot are planning to destroy the key views by submitting a planning application that looks as if it is a feit acompli for the new Chinatown.

Why would you want to build a New Chinatown destroying its history?

A boring and bland architectural disaster on its own without coming up to the shoulders of our great ecclesiastical masterpiece.

There is also a fine upstanding building Grade II listed (does Joe Anderson's planning appointees understand the phrase) that is currently a wedding shop. 

This is designed by J.P Seddon and will look a sorry and pathetic sight in the new setting, if it went ahead.

How can Liverpool do planning so bad.

Nick Kavanagh and Elliot Lawless Arrested on Bribery and Corruption Charges.

Both were released after questioning on conditional bail.

Police arrested Mr Lawless, aged 32, at his city centre flat. 

That he has spent one million pounds, yes a Million pounds restoring from its ex council office style 1960's building into his new swanky pad.

This pad overlooks Joe Anderson's offices at Cunard Buildings.

SHOULD THE POLICE CHECK ALL THE DELIVERY NOTES TO THE ADDRESS OF HIS APARTMENT and is THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT SOME OF THE MATERIALS MAY HAVE BEEN BOOKED ELSEWHERE??????? 

THEY, and the HMRC REALLY SHOULD CHECK AS HE HAS SOME PUBLIC FUNDED CONTRACTS. 

Why was he given the contract to restore publicly owned properties?

Mr Kavanagh, aged 50, was arrested in his office. He was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and misconduct in a public office.

Mr Lawless was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud, bribery and corruption.

Mr Kavanagh was appointed director for regeneration at the city council in 2011 and is in charge of the city’s major regeneration schemes.A Merseyside Police statement said: “A 32-year-old man from Liverpool city centre has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud, bribery and corruption.

Police said “Whilst a 50-year-old man, employed by Liverpool City Council, has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and misconduct in public office.”

Mr Lawless said: “This is a frustrating turn of events as we are extremely busy delivering major schemes across the north.

“I’m helping the police fully with their enquiries and am more than happy to do so. It is important that I clear my good name quickly and that we move on from this.

“The allegations are completely baseless but due process needs to be followed and whilst the police do their work I’ll not comment further on the issue.

“In the meantime, it’s business as usual. I have seven live schemes in Liverpool to deliver and am back at my desk doing just that.”

YES HE WOULD SAY THAT OR IS IT WORDS CONJURED UP BY HIS PR COMPANY. 

Which may or may not be run by Jon Egan and co who also PR personally for Joe Anderson and the council and several publicaly funded bodies.
Mr Lawless, a former plumber, who drives a Bentley is the founder of the Elliot Group which is working on major schemes in Liverpool and Salford.

Schemes include the £170m redevelopment of Heap’s Rice Mill, the £100m redevelopment of Wolstenholme Square, the £100m Aura student scheme and a scheme including 1,000 apartments on Leeds Street in Liverpool.

Cunard Cruise Terminal Cock Up. Is Joe Anderson Out Of Control?

You could not make this up. Liverpool's Mayor, who David Cameron said "Gets things done" has bought a White Elephant with our money. 

Anyone with half a brain could have told him that the Cunard Building would not work as a Cruise Terminal. It is easy to work out how can you have a terminal half a mile away from the landing stage. How will you get the clients on board.........by magic carpet. 

Today Marc Waddington, and a huge part of this problem, Echo shipping correspondent Peter Elson write about the collapse of the idea. 

This idea should never have got going. 

Only Joe Anderson sycophant,Peter Elson kept pushing, at one time, during an interview about the Cunard takeover, on Radio Merseyside he called Anderson Liverpools Prince Charming, (sic)

 Anderson went with it, hook line and stinker, sensing great PR headlines. 

Wayne gave Elson the idea to run a Daily Post campaign to start cruises at the new cruise terminal after it was doomed to be a turnaround facility. And even put a plan forward to develop the site of the current cruise customs tent.

 We now have to accuse the press for its lack of educated and joined up thinking in this whole sorry saga that is The Cunard cock Up..

It is even more ironic that the very press who have forgotten about Liverpool being on the World Heritage In Danger list now print reasons for the Cunard Cock Up as harming the World Heritage Site.

LIVERPOOL Mayor Joe Anderson last night confirmed his dreams of creating a stunning cruise terminal departure lounge in the riverfront Cunard Building have been torpedoed by strict security controls.

But the mayor defended his £10m purchase of the one time headquarters of the world’s best known shipping line.

Instead the one-time sailor and his team will have to go back to the drawing board to find a replacement for the temporary, marquee-like check-in area close to the cruise terminal.

 

It seems the logistics of moving passengers from A to Sea would not only have cost millions of pounds, it would also compromise what is the epicentre of Liverpool’s World Heritage Site.

Things have changed since the days when first class passengers arrived at what was Cunard’s first class passenger lounge before strolling over to the Princes Landing Stage to board their ocean-going liners. These days you have to go through a massive security check before they’ll even let you set foot in the cruise terminal.

 

Border controls, now stricter than ever, pose a problem for a check-in facility without a secure link to the gangway of departing liners.

 

Various suggestions – even a monorail – have been put forward as a way of meeting new maritime security regulations.  It is a wonder they didn’t even throw in the popular Church Street sky-ride as a potential carrier of cruise line travellers.

 

Maritime consultants Royal Haskoning were commissioned by the city council to carry out a feasibility study to explore the potential of using the ground floor of the Cunard Building as a cruise liner terminal facility.

 

Their report, due to be released at the end of this month, will reveal a range of options could cost anything between £5m and £60m.Mayor Anderson said all of the options put forward were based on the requirements of TRANSEC and Border Control and include everything from basic covered walkways to a monorail for transporting passengers. 

 

The Mayor commented: “We have, in addition to cost, to be mindful of the fact that we do not want to do anything that impacts on the World Heritage site the building is on. In light of these findings it is clear we will not be able to progress with this plan.

What a Cock Up. Joe Anderson says they are going to bring hosts of tenants to the Cunard Buildings, when half of Liverpool's historic buildings in the locality are half empty and the reason the Pension fund sold it in the first place is that it was proving a dead duck to them.

Where are the 20,000 jobs that Joe Anderson and Peel Holdings promised

While Joe Anderson is telling all who will listen that we need to build new houses, on Liverpools parklands to meet public demand, he seems to have forgotten that he was elected (by 18% of the votable electorate) on a Peel Holdings ticket to create 20,000 jobs and 10,000 new dwellings.
How can the local press not challenge him on this.
Three years after plans were passed, that placed Liverpool on the UNESCO World Heritage In Danger List not a single brick has been laid.
Neither has any start been made on Wirral Waters.

Unesco have warned the city Mayor for years that the WHS status will be removed if they continue with plans to fill in Bramley Moore Dock.
